Volume 103 | December 21st, 2021
An entire generation has been raised in a world where it is accepted normal to see human beings sleeping on the street. All too often, those who die on the streets are not connected to family or support systems who can hold a funeral or properly honor them. Because of this injustice, the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) commemorate December 21—the longest night of the year. NCH and NHCHC established the first Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day in 1990 to remember those who died during the year without housing. Thirty-one years later, the epidemic has grown, with more people living and dying without housing. Let us remember all those who lost their lives, both in Maricopa County and throughout our country, for lack of housing; reflect on the shocking inhumanity of homelessness, and call for meaningful policy changes to ensure that no life is lived or lost while unhoused.

EPISODE 24: INSIDE THE ARIZONA HOUSING FUND
This TV series was created to continue Mike McQuaid’s mission to end homelessness here in the Valley. Mike McQuaid believed the problem could be solved, but he also knew it would take a community working together to achieve this goal. STN, in collaboration with the Human Services Campus and ASU’s Action Nexus, is working to shine a light on the challenges and, more importantly, the solutions.

In this episode, we take an inside look at the Arizona Housing Fund. Founder Howard Epstein joins us live in studio for this conversation. See how local business leaders are paving the way when it comes to building more affordable supportive housing in our state.

Special guests include Howard Epstein, Founder, Arizona Housing Fund; and John Kobierowski, President & CEO, ABI Multifamily.

Episode 25 will air on Monday, January 17th! Click Here to View All Episodes.
