Beloved of God,

I'm one of those people that wants Christmas to go on and on. I want to experience the full 12 Days of Christmas after Christmas Day, like it was meant to be. I suppose that is one of the things I love about the church. Because while the stores and the media have moved on to the next big thing, we get to stay in the wonder and mystery of Christmas for two whole weeks.

As we lean into these 12 days, heading toward Epiphany and into the new calendar year, I invite you to ponder these words from poet Howard Thurman:

The Work of Christmas
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others,
To make music in the heart.

May the work of Christmas be our work as we journey together into what God has in store for us.
Peace to you!
Pastor Sarah

Bread Breakers is small groups of couples/families who meet monthly to get to know their congregational brothers and sisters better.
Groups of four different couples/families will be formed. Each month one meal will be hosted by a couple/family. By the end of four months, each couple/family will have hosted a meal for their group. Each group will work among themselves where and when the month's meal will be. This can be an informal gathering at your home or an offsite location.

Nursery:  We are looking for  ADULT volunteers to staff the Nursery with our confirmation student volunteers on Sunday mornings. All volunteers must have completed Safeguarding training and adults must have a background check.
Altar Flowers:  2020 altar flowers dates are currently being filled, so sign up now. Placing flowers on the altar for our worship services is a wonderful way to honor someone you love and appreciate or to remember a departed loved one.
Arranging to place flowers is as simple as a signing up, telling us what information you would like printed in the bulletin, we order the flowers, and the florist delivers them. You write a check for $15 and put in the offering plate (checks made payable to St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the memo line stating "altar flowers) and you are done.  Sign-up in the Narthex (outside the Library) or  Sign-up here.
Sunday Morning Refreshments
Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!
   Hebrews 13:1-2

Before and after worship on Sunday mornings is a time for fellowship with our fellow worshippers. Treats brought in by you add to this fellowship time.

We are looking for volunteers to bring in treats on Sunday mornings and volunteers to clean-up the coffee and treats.

You can sign-up in the Narthex or   Sign-Up Here.

Nominating Committee Update

The Nominating Committee is Brandy Timmons, Sean Fraley, Tom Miller, and Pastor Sarah. Their work to invite individuals to serve on Council will wrap up early in January.

There are five roles opening this year: President, Treasurer, and three Members at Large. The Nominating Committee is looking for folks who have the following characteristics: active faith life, open minded, self-differentiated, good listener, good communicator, can see the big picture, open to change, and value the  history of the congregation. The committee also has an eye on finding a mix of demographics including, age, gender, and length of time in the congregation,  among others.

If you are interested in serving on Council, or you know someone who might be a good Council member, please talk with one of the Nominating Committee.

A slate will be created for the  annual meeting. Nominations are also accepted from the  floor.

The November (meeting held December 3) and December (meeting held December 17) Church Council minutes are available on the website or to
download (links below) .

On the website, you can also find past council minutes, guidelines, current forms, how to contact team leaders or your church council and the church constitution. Hard copies of the minutes are available at the Welcome Center.

Please read so you know what's happening in your congregation!

We welcome all ages to worship, especially children!

If your child is going to be in the children's area, please have an adult with them and clean up the space after worship.  Thank you!
