Amagoro Junior Academy
Amagoro Junior Academy has reopened by the grace of God and St. Luke’s generosity. Bishop Zak called and shared about the reopening of the Academy. 4th grade and 8th grade classes have started back. The other grades will begin after the Christmas holiday, this will give the staff time to figure out the logistics in getting the whole Academy up and running following the guidelines of the Health and Education Ministry.

They pray that the Coronavirus will not escalate to where the Academy will have to close again. Education is so very important to these young people and with the help of St. Luke’s and other churches it is becoming a reality with some modern technology.

They had a small dedication of the reopening of the Academy with the staff and students. A visiting Priest from Paris presided at the service.

In the picture, you will see Bishop Zak in a plaid shirt and his wife Mama Catherine sitting next to him.

Let us pray that the Coronavirus numbers decrease and not increase so the Academy remains open.
God’s Peace and Love be with you always!
Merry Christmas!
The Spirit of Christmas is very much alive in our quad-city community!

On Saturday, December 12th, St Luke’s, along with the Community Cupboard and Mayer's school, gathered in the Walmart parking lot at Gail Gardner to collect bags of food from
the Neighborhood program. For 2 hours, you could see a long line of vehicles delivering
the green bags. The volunteers were filled with energy and joy working together to fight hunger.

Yes, the Spirit of Christmas was present among us through the generosity of the people who supplied the goods and the enthusiasm of the volunteers cheering each other to keep warm despite the cold wind. St Luke’s was well represented at this event, 14 people from all ages participated and we were able to load 3 cars, 4 trucks and 2 trailers which represents 338 bags. St Luke’s bunker is completely filled with food from top to bottom as well as all the shelves in the Food Pantry and then some.

I was so proud to be part of this amazing event on Saturday and being able to see that despite
Covid-19, the cold, and the business of life, young and old volunteers took
the time to gather together to make the world a better place with a smile on their face.
(Well, we were all wearing masks, but you could not help but notice the spark in everyone’s eyes!)
So, yes, the Spirit of Christmas is very much alive in our community!
