Friday Chamber Coffee

This week's Chamber Community Coffee will be held Friday, December 6 at 8:15 am and will be hosted by American State Bank, located at 809 N. John Wayne Drive in Winterset.

Be sure to stop back during the day to help American State Bank celebrate their Holiday Open House!  The hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, and the day will include photos with Santa from 2:00-5:00 pm, plus bank giveaways, prize drawings, and refreshments.  Don't forget that American State Bank is a Toys for Tots drop- off location.

If your business or organization would like to host a Friday Chamber Coffee in 2020, let us know!  Call the Chamber of Commerce office at 515-462-1185 to get a spot on the calendar!  It's free, and a great way to promote your club or business.  (Please note:  Since we have over 250 members and only 50 Chamber Coffees per year, we ask that each member only host once per year.)

A Lunch Date at the Iowa Quilt Museum
You're invited to a lunch date at the Iowa Quilt Museum on Friday, December 6th! The current exhibit at the Iowa Quilt Museum features quilts by Liz Porter and Madison County's own Marianne Fons. Did you know that before Marianne was a famous quilter, she was famous for shooting a rattlesnake at her Madison County farm? The quilt that tells the story is included in the display along with a dozen more of Marianne's beautiful creations.

Many have been wanting to come visit but it's hard to find time, so the Iowa Quilt Museum is making it very easy - come on your lunch break! Marianne will give a guided tour at 12:15 pm on Friday, December 6, but you're welcome to stop in and have lunch any time from 11:30am - 1:00pm. No charge and no RSVP necessary.

The menu includes hot slider sandwiches with fixings plus Pammel Park coffee and Naomi Hupton's fudge cookie bars!

December Partnership Perk
A message from the Greater Des Moines Partnership:

Take The EDGE Pledge

We need your help in reaching one of our goals for this year to advance the education pipeline in Greater Des Moines (DSM). Education Drives Our Greater Economy (EDGE) is designed to cultivate cradle-through-career education and training to ensure 75 percent of DSM working-age adults have degrees, certificates and other credentials by 2025 that meet workforce demands. This is a regional goal, which builds upon the State's Future Ready Iowa initiative.

If you believe in this goal, please first take the EDGE pledge  for your company to publicly show its support. By taking the EDGE pledge, your company's name will be listed as an EDGE supporter on the Greater Des Moines Partnership's website along with other DSM organizations that believe in attracting great talent and increasing educational attainment of our workforce. Once you take the pledge, visit the EDGE page on The Partnership's website to see examples large and small of how other companies and organizations have helped advance the goal and get ideas about how you may be able to have an impact.

Thank you for supporting EDGE and for your continued support of the Greater Des Moines Partnership and your local Chamber.
