We would like to thank everyone who has stopped by over the past two weeks to pick up a tag from the OARC giving tree housed at the Chamber. Your support will go a long way to ensure families and children in Oconee County will have a happy holiday season.

We still have many tags available for pickup. All donated items need to be brought back to the Chamber by December 6th.
The  University of North Georgia Oconee  campus recently had one of their projects, Nighthawks SOAR, selected as one of only 12 for the  #ONEUNG  Crowdfund!

Nighthawks SOAR (Student Opportunities for Accelerated Readiness) will consist of a three week program in June 2019 that will reinforce English, math and science skills for economically disadvantaged, ESOL, and future first generation college students in middle grades from counties that the Oconee campus serves.

Funds will be used to offset the costs of hiring certified teachers, transportation, and lunch for the students served by the program. The goal is $3,000!

Please consider making a donation for this worthwhile cause to support literacy in Oconee County!

OCONEE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM
Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Department
Business and Computer Science Programs

The CTAE departments of the Oconee County School System have been selected to have the opportunity to earn the distinction of industry certification. During this process, the Business and Computer Science Programs of OCHS and NOHS will showcase procedures that confirm that our programs are producing graduates that have the skills necessary to be successful in the current economy. In keeping with the focus of our programs, we would like to ensure that we are supporting local businesses with the skilled labor they require. In an effort to improve upon this practice, we ask that you help us by completing the “Needs Assessment” survey. By doing so, you will help us better understand your needs as local businesses and how we can more effectively forge our curricula. Upon completion, we will share the results with each of you. We know each of you are incredibly busy, but we always appreciate your time and support.
