The E-Pistle of Sunday, December 4th, 2022

Thank You For Joining Us Today

We are most grateful to welcome you to our Sunday worship. We wish you God's blessings and love for this day.

We hope that you can feel part of the Cathedral community wherever you are in your life's journey. Know that this is a place of welcome and love for all.

The church is so much more than a building or our Sunday services. At the core of the body of the church is each of you. God’s love and compassion which you carry out into the world from this place, is the living church.

Blessings to you.

  Sincerely,

Dean Shambaugh and the Cathedral Community.

Old Testament Roots of Jesus Study

Sunday Mornings|8:45am-9:45am

Location: The Chapter Room

The word “perfect” in Greek is teleios meaning complete in all its parts, fully developed, or having the “completeness” of the fully developed Christian character. In Matthew 5 and 25, Romans 12 and 13, and other sources, we are told to ..”become perfect” as your heavenly Father is perfect. Perfectness includes but is not limited to goodness. Then what is God’s confession? What behaviors then account for us being perfect? God’s changes in behavior were not announced to us mortals, but the authors of our scriptures recorded these many changes. This new definition of confession was still another way of telling us how to live in holiness or perfection. What was that way? It was the Shema, ie., to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and property, and then, from Deuteronomy, to love our neighbors as ourselves.  It was to recognize the wrongs we’ve done, confess our sins, right them, and to live accordingly. The act of becoming perfect is living the life Jesus modeled. God understands we will continue to sin. But the joy of being Christians is the deeply understood faith that if we confess, change the way we live, then we are forgiven to live the more perfect life once again. God’s confession then is that like Himself the struggle is to live the perfect or authentic life. Come and join us in this adventure.
