This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program shares information on an amendment to the School Safety Drill Act taking effect on Jan. 1st, provides a final chance to register for the Dec. 17-18th session of Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations, and promotes an additional upcoming session of Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations.

Amendment to the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/) Taking Effect January 1, 2025
Earlier this year, a bill passed to amend the School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/). The newest amendment, (105 ILCS 128/60), requires schools to have a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan. Last Chance to Register!
Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations December 17-18th in Peoria, IL
This is the last chance to register for the Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations class being held December 17-18, 2024, in Peoria, IL. Class objectives include:
- Why it is important NOT to disregard information given to LEO or school officials.
- What the term "Leakage" means and how we can interpret the information.
- Learn free and open source online investigative tools into social networks and App generated phone numbers.
- Learn to identify and collect cyber evidence to identify suspects.
- Learn the three-step process in investigating internet crimes.
- Learn the importance of Preservation, Exigent Circumstances, and Search Warrants.
- Learn how to obtain IP's, screen names, screen captures, and email headers.
