Beloved of God,

In Romans 15:5 St. Paul writes: "May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

He is writing to a congregation in conflict giving them advice about how to be a congregation united in Christ.

It's comforting to know that other congregations have been through difficult times - even all the way back to the very earliest Christians - and that they made it. We're still reading their words and reaping the benefits of their wisdom recorded in the New Testament! We have a long legacy of faithful Christian communities to draw on. So on Sunday we begin a process of creating a set of promises that we will make to one another. These promises are for the health and benefit of our congregation, our families, and for us individually.

It starts with brainstorming around a question: what is Y(our) Vision of the Golden Rule? You'll hear more about it on Sunday and there will be a station in the Narthex to check out and talk with folks more.

The next steps include naming the norms of our interactions in the past, the healthy ones and the less-than-healthy ones. We'll learn from other congregations how having a set of promises they make to each other has made a difference for them. We'll create our own set of promises that we can adopt at our Annual Meeting on January 26th. The whole process involves everyone in the congregation and will be visually represented on the wall in the Narthex.

This is an important part of the health process for us. I've personally seen this kind of thing make a huge difference in congregations. I hope that each of you will open yourself to this process and take part in creating a positive, uplifting environment here at St. Paul that oozes love and joy out into the congregation and the world.

Peace to you!

Seeking Donations of Personal Care and Food Items for the Food Truck

For the past several years the St. Paul Lutheran members have provided a Christmas gift to the families visiting the Food Truck in December.  This year we would like to put together a box of personal care items for each family. Please consider adding some of these items to your shopping list this holiday season.

Laundry Detergent, Fabric Softener Sheets, Toilet Paper, Kleenex, Paper Towels, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Shampoo, and Conditioner and band-aids.

It would be wonderful if you could bring these items in by Sunday, December 8th , so we would know what we needed to go buy to fill up the boxes.  If you would like us to do the shopping for you, you could make a donation to St. Paul Lutheran, memo line: Personal Care Items, Food Truck.  If you have any questions please contact Jan Brainard or Katie Edwards.

Food items that are always needed

Baked beans, cereal, tuna, white rice, coffee, salt/pepper, baking goods (flour, sugar, etc.)

When donating, please keep in mind our food truck services about 30 people each time.

This Sunday, we will be including our food truck donations during offering.  Thank you for supporting this mission.

We are looking for ADULT volunteers to staff the Nursery with our confirmation student volunteers on Sunday mornings.  All volunteers must have completed Safeguarding training and adults must have a background check.

Also, please sign up to purchase flowers for Sunday mornings, or to provide refreshments for fellowship after service.  Sign up sheets are available in Narthex.

Please email Melissa (office administrator) at with any questions.
