ISBE Promotes EPA's Resources for Cleaning, Disinfection, and Ventilation in Schools

The Illinois State Board of Education has added guidance from the Environmental Protection Agency to its COVID-19 page. The document, Important Resources: Cleaning, Disinfection and Ventilation in Schools - US Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5(IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI), November 2020, discusses ensuring cleaning products are effective against the coronavirus. The document provides links to information on product testing, cleaning and disinfection, and checking to see if products are listed as effective.

The document also addresses ventilation and indoor air quality, with links to resources, and links to information on hand sanitizers that should not be used. Sanitizers on the list include ones that contain methanol, have microbial contamination, are subpotent, are being recalled, pose a risk of being ingested due to being packaged in a container that resembles a food/beverage container, etc.
