Highland Park 4th of July Active Shooter Debrief
Dec. 12th in Rosemont, IL

The Illinois Tactical Officers Association is pleased to present this dynamic after-action debrief from a panel of officials who were personally involved in responding to and/or managing the incident. The focus of their presentations will be on the pre-incident training & preparation, actions taken that day, the multi-agency response, lessons learned, the long-term impact of this incident and suggestions for the future. This presentation is relevant & applicable to all First Responders, Emergency Managers, Medical Personnel, Government & Elected Officials and anyone involved in planning and/or preparing to respond to critical incidents.

Upcoming Session of Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations January 11-12 in Oglesby

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations will be held on January 11-12, 2024, in Oglesby, IL. Class objectives include:

• Why it is important NOT to disregard information given to LEO or school officials.
• What the term "Leakage" means and how we can interpret the information.
• Learn free and open source online investigative tools into social networks and App generated phone numbers.
• Learn to identify and collect cyber evidence to identify suspects.
• Learn the three-step process in investigating internet crimes.
• Learn the importance of Preservation, Exigent Circumstances, and Search Warrants.
• Learn how to obtain IP's, screen names, screen captures, and email headers.
• State laws: Terrorist Threat, Falsely Making a Terrorist Threat, Swatting, and Causing a Catastrophe.
• Suspect search warrant, arrest, interrogation, and mental health evaluation.
• Examine a successful cyber-crime case study investigation from start to finish.

Upcoming Session of Campus Threat Assessment and Management January 18-19 in Harrisburg

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class Campus Threat Assessment and Management will be held January 18-19, 2024, in Harrisburg, IL. This two-day workshop for institutions of higher education featuring Gene Deisinger, Ph.D will help participants to better understand the dynamics of targeted violence and to develop and enhance strategies for early identification, assessment, and intervention with concerning situations.

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class Campus Threat Assessment and Management will be held Feb. 29-March 1, 2024, in Normal, IL. This two-day workshop for institutions of higher education featuring Gene Deisinger, Ph.D will help participants to better understand the dynamics of targeted violence and to develop and enhance strategies for early identification, assessment, and intervention with concerning situations.

Will and DuPage County ROEs to Host School Safety Summit on Jan. 19th

The Will County Regional Office of Education, Professional Development Alliance (representing the Will ROE and the Grundy/Kendall ROE), along with support from the DuPage County Regional Office of Education and NISSA are hosting the School Safety Summit 2024 - Preparedness to Prevention on Jan. 19, 2024, in Joliet, IL. The summit includes keynote speaker Dr. Peter Langman, author of Why Kids Kill: Inside the Minds of School Shooters, and several afternoon breakout sessions. The summit is free and includes, coffee, continental breakfast, lunch, Dr. Langman's book, and educators can earn professional development hours. For more information, click here.
