Iowa’s hotel industry is making your voices heard at the state capitol and on a national stage. As the advocacy organization for Iowa’s hotel industry, the Iowa Hotel & Lodging Association works hard to elevate your issues through legislation, collaborative initiatives, media engagement, and regulatory agency liaison efforts.
With the Iowa Caucuses less than five weeks away, CNN has once again contacted our office requesting our assistance in inviting industry members to submit questions for consideration for two CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall events. A similar invitation was given to the Association for Vice President Mike Pence and IHLA Board member Scott Math had the privilege of asking a question to him on the internationally televised town hall.

Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra is leading the efforts to repeal the “death tax” which makes it difficult for Iowa hospitality businesses to pass their hard built business on to family members. This week in a Tax Committee hearing, he emphasized the need to repeal the “death tax.” The Association is both strongly supportive of the Congressman’s efforts and proud of our strong relationship with the Congressman. Any IHLA member is encouraged to join us next year when we take a delegation of hoteliers to Washington DC to meet our members of Congress and share our industry’s collective concerns.
Iowa is one of 11 states to launch a Mobile ID program and businesses are now able to accept the smartphone-based IDs for age and identity verification. Join us for the IHLA Day at the State Capitol! We will meet for lunch and legislative training then head to the Capitol to share our issues with lawmakers. Later that evening we will host legislators at a reception which is also open to all members.
