Alumnus John Tracy receives Distinguished Alumni Award at the 2017 Founder's Dinner
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) honored those who have contributed to building strength and vibrancy within local communities, are dedicated to civic engagement, and have helped CSUDH provide education, scholarship, and services that are accessible and transformative during its 2017 Founders' Dinner: Accelerating Success on Oct. 26 at the Porsche Experience Center in Carson.  Read More.. 
Alumnus Victor McKamie Helps MAP a Better Life for Those with HIV/AIDS
For the past 28 years, Victor McKamie ('98, B.A., sociology; '01,M.S., public administration), executive director and CEO of Minority AIDS Project (MAP) in Los Angeles, and his colleagues have been successfully showing their clients with that feeling of having "less" that they have so much "more;" more to accomplish, more to give, and more reason to live. Super Saturday
Super Saturday was held on October 28th on campus. The goal of Super Saturday is to increase the college preparation, enrollment, and graduation rates of African-American students in our service area. See Gallery Here...

Oktoberfest
CSUDH Alumni & Friends enjoyed a night at Oktoberfest on Friday, October 13 at Alpine Village Center. A portion of all ticket sales was donated to the Alumni Scholarship Fund to support current CSUDH students. See Gallery Here... 
Class Notes
Winifred Carter (BA '97)
was the honorary grand marshal at the 21st Veterans Day Parade in Uptown Long Beach. During World War II she was a civilian secretary for the military at the Pentagon. Later, she graduated from the Long Beach Reserve Police Officers Academy, where her duties included patrol, women's jail and secretary. She also helped create a scholarship program for the Black Police Officers Organization. She returned to LBPD as a Senior Police Partner in 1997. She currently serves as a Commissioner for the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission.      

Brandon Gay (BA '15), Christopher Brito (BA '16), and Ian Weir (BA '16) 
had their peer-reviewed article "Portable XRF Analysis of Obsidian Projectile Points and Debitage from Paipai Territory in Northern Baja California" published in the Pacific Coast Archaeological Survey Quarterly. This research was supported by a CSUDH undergraduate research fellowship.     
 
Dr. Steven Golightly (MPA '07)  
director of the Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department (CSSD), received the Clarence A. Dykstra Award for Excellence in Government from the Southern California Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). The award acknowledged his innovative efforts to improve child support services for LA County residents and for developing future leaders for government service to the public.      
 
Alex Gondola (MA '14) 
published a book titled Saints Alive: Claiming the Saints for Protestant Preaching, by CSS Publishing Company. The book is a series of biographical sermons on well-known and lesser-known saints.   

Dr. Richard Kuhns (MA '98)
was approved by the Trinity County Board of Supervisors as the new county administrative officer. He previously served as the regional housing authority director for the Shasta, Siskiyou, Trinity, Modoc Housing Authority and as executive director of the Shasta County Community Action Agency.          
 
Ben Lowe (BA '14)
made his New York debut at Brooklyn Academy of Music 2017 BAM Next Wave Festival, performing in Matthew Aucoin's opera "Crossing."Lowe is also a baritone with the Southern California Verdi Chorus, and was a featured soloist in the chorus's fall concert "Love's Passions and Potions" at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica Nov. 18 and 10.

Delores Craig (BA '82)
a retired CSUDH University Library and Social & Behavioral Sciences Graduate Program staff member, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Texas.
