Poly Receives 5 Stars in New State Report Card
An intensive two year development process has resulted in Maryland's launch of a new school accountability system that gives parents, students and teachers a way to easily tell how well their school is doing. Every public school in the state is assigned a rating, from a minimum of one star to a maximum of five stars, based on several factors, including academic achievement, absenteeism, graduation percentage, curriculum, and performance of English language learners.

We are very proud to report that Poly received a 5 star rating!

Alumni Judges Participate in STEM Competition
Poly Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors participated in the 7th Annual Poly Hallway STEM competition. Thirty teams competed in 7 different events that ranged from engineering tasks like building rubber band helicopters to academic thinking exercises like the carbon dating event where students applied a mathematical model of radioactive decay to determine the age of ancient organisms. Congratulations to the winning team of Poly Juniors: Corinne Charney, Adam Hofert, Ian Stadelmaier, and Colton Ross!

This event received tremendous support from our alumni, including financial support from the BPI Foundation and the participation of 25 alumni judges who volunteered their time. The event truly was a team effort by so many parts of the Poly family and a great celebration of our tradition of excellence in Science and Engineering.
Poly Hosts VEX Robotics Competition

The Ingenuity Project Expands to Fourth School
The Ingenuity Project is expanding to James McHenry Elementary/Middle School beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The new site is the fourth school to offer this challenging academic program in the middle grades, joining Hamilton, Mount Royal, and Roland Park.

Baltimore City Public Schools, in partnership with the Ingenuity Project, conducted a 6-month process to identify the new school site. James McHenry Elementary/Middle School was one of fifteen schools to apply for consideration. A committee of education professionals and community members reviewed applications submitted by interested schools. The district and Ingenuity staff then examined the capacity for school buildings to accommodate additional students in the program, the conditions in the community served by the school, and the content of the applications themselves. This selection continues the Ingenuity Project's mission of building a pipeline of high achieving math and science students in West Baltimore to be prepared for the rigors at Poly.
