Annual Holiday Appeal and Tribute Giving
Our sincere thanks to everyone who supported Birthday Dreams over the past year. You have made a difference in the lives of so many children and we sincerely appreciate your support. We realize this time of year can be both stressful and busy, but as part of our Annual Holiday Appeal, we'd like to humbly ask you to take a moment to consider a year-end donation to help us get to our goal of supporting even more children in the coming year.
Your support enables us to provide parents in need with the ability to celebrate their children regardless of their financial or living situations and ensures every child has a chance to feel special on their birthday. At our October Gala of Dreams, we heard firsthand from the Adkison family just how meaningful the gift of a birthday party is for families in need. View the Adkison family's moving testimonial here.
The link to our Holiday Appeal giving levels can be found here. To give, visit our secure website.
With your help, we will bring even more moments of joy and smiles to homeless youth and families in 2024. Thank you for your consideration and continued support of our mission!

Upcoming Event | Toy and Coat Drive with Santa
As has been the tradition over the past several years, Thai Nguyen and her extended real estate team have selected Birthday Dreams as the beneficiary of their wonderful Holiday Toy & Coat Drive.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, December 10th from 1 PM - 4 PM at Ocha Thai Kitchen & Bar in Renton. Food and beverages will be provided, and you can bring your family by for photos with Santa. This is a great chance to drop off your toy and coat/clothing donation for us, and cross off your “to-do list” with Santa and the family!
We are so thankful to have such an amazing supporter in Thai and her colleagues! Thank you all for raising funds, awareness, and hope in our community!

The below feedback, filled with words of gratitude, was provided by a parent who was able to give their child a birthday party to remember, thanks to Birthday Dreams. This is why, with your support, we continue to do what we do.
“We are living in a transitional shelter and I just started working, but now need to start saving for a permanent housing for the family... [My daughter] was very thankful to have this birthday party at the shelter with family and friends. She can’t stop talking about the gifts she got from you and the party that she will never forget... She was so very happy with all the decorations, cake, set up, and especially the gifts... We are very thankful to be in a shelter and especially to be part of Birthday Dreams... Thank you very much!"

Each month Birthday Dreams receives grant awards from our terrific foundation partners. Without their support, we could not do what we do. Last month we received a $3,500 grant from The Glaser Foundation. Thank you for your support!
Volunteer Spotlight | Lyla Smith
Lyla Smith, mentioned above in our Community Support and Recognition section, is a newer volunteer. She started volunteering for us two months ago and hit the ground running. In addition to her birthday party fundraiser, she has donated gifts for seven birthday children, juice for three parties, and party supplies for two parties. She was also a tremendous help at the gala. Here’s what Lyla had to say about why she chose to volunteer for Birthday Dreams:
“My new Farmers Insurance agent in Renton has Birthday Dreams featured on his website and it was there where I heard about Birthday Dreams and wanted to check it out for myself. I can’t imagine not celebrating a birthday, so providing a birthday party for a homeless child tugged at my heart. I took advantage of this opportunity and jumped in with both feet to become involved.
| |
|
The extensive website offers many avenues for volunteering and there is something out on the site for everyone who has a desire to volunteer. I had a milestone birthday party and in lieu of gifts for myself, I asked my guests to bring toys for Birthday Dreams and they donated over 180 toys from my party. My goal is to have an annual event for a toy drive. In addition to the toy drive, I volunteered for the Gala of Dreams fundraising auction, and have donated gifts for the birthday parties.
I can’t say enough about the incredible staff and amazing volunteers that I’ve met in a short period of time that are associated with Birthday Dreams. This organization is a perfect fit for me.”
Again, a huge thank you to Lyla for her generous and caring support! If you would like to find out more information about how you can follow in her footsteps including how to "share" your birthday with Birthday Dreams, please contact Volunteer and Community Events Coordinator, Tabitha Amorosa.

We would like to thank Leah Battin for all that she has done for Birthday Dreams over the past five years. Leah has volunteered as our Community Events Coordinator since May 2019. She recently passed the baton to our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Tabitha Amoroso.
Leah started planning community events for us in May 2019 and has coordinated over 120 events to date. Using her excellent communication and organizational skills, Leah has built a very successful Community Event Program. Her efforts resulted in thousands of volunteer hours and dollars and facilitated events that yielded 10,000+ party supplies (party hats, goody bags, etc) for our birthday parties. Thank you again, Leah, for all that you've done for Birthday Dreams and the children we support. You will be missed!
