We will return to school on January 5.

Even through the challenges, the Board of Education appreciates our students and staff's hard work this semester. They want to express their most sincere thank you for all you do.

Katie Fredrickson is designing her future
Keep your eye on this girl! Katie Fredrickson will graduate in May but she already has taken a giant step into her future!

Katie is part of the Agriculture Work Experience in the CJ Agriculture Department. Through this class, Katie works 10-15 hours a week at Webb City Florist gaining valuable experience for a possible future career in floral design.

"I love my job," said Fredrickson. "it is my creative outlet. I also love working for Owner Courtney Smith (CJ Class of 2010) at Webb City Florist. I am learning real-life applications for what I am learning in school."

Katie plans to attend college after graduation and is still looking towards life-long goals of owning her own boutique with florals or maybe being an Ag Teacher to inspire the next generation.

Junior High Service Projects
Carl Junction Junior High students have been very busy with service projects this month.
✔ On November 6, students from the Leadership Bulldog Block participated in the annual Out of the Darkness walk to raise awareness for suicide prevention. The students raised over $400 with a hat day and donations from the student body.
✔ On November 13, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) members volunteered at the Joplin Humane Society. They walked and played with dogs and cats awaiting adoption. These students also received the training needed to continue to volunteer throughout the year.
✔ On November 19, NJHS coordinated a food drive and donated 40 Thanksgiving Baskets to Fostering Hope. Crossland Construction donated 40 turkeys to be included with the baskets and Coca-Cola donated 80 2 liters. CJJH donated over 1500 food items with the excess items donated to Helping Hands.

Inclement Weather
Winter weather will soon be upon us. When deciding whether to close schools, several factors are taken into consideration, including the amount of snowfall, condition of residential and thoroughfare roads, temperature, and the ability to clear parking lots and sidewalks. We work closely with the weather service and our team members personally travel the roads before making a final decision.

If school is canceled or the arrival/dismissal time is affected, an announcement will be made through our communication system using phone, text, and email; postings on social media and cjr1.org, and our local television stations. To assure that you will receive notification, verify that your parent information is up to date in Parent Portal.
