TEMPORARY CHANGES IN HOURS AT FACTORIA TRANSFER STATION

King County’s Solid Waste Division is repairing and resurfacing the Factoria Recycling and Transfer Station tipping floor from 12/1/2025 through mid-February 2026. The work will disrupt some services throughout the construction period – primarily impacting residents who self-haul their own solid waste. Republic Services customers will not be impacted. For full information see the King County blog.

The following services disruptions and closures are planned during construction:

  • Garbage and recycling will be closed to self-haul customers Monday through Friday beginning on Dec. 1 through the completion of the work in mid-February.
  • Garbage and recycling services will be open to self-haul customers only on weekends.
  • Yard waste will be closed throughout the construction period. Yard waste will not be allowed in garbage.
  • Household hazardous waste services will remain open normal hours.
  • Self-haul customers can use nearby Renton and Houghton transfer stations for garbage and recycling services on weekdays. Yard waste can be taken to the Shoreline and Bow Lake stations. Customers should also consider delaying or postponing their trip, if possible.

ANNUAL GOLF CART REGISTRATION

Calling all golf cart owners! It’s time to renew your annual golf cart registration! See https://www.beauxarts-wa.gov/other-town-services for the registration form and instructions. The fee for the annual registration is $30. Once completed, the registration form and check for the annual fee can be mailed or hand delivered to the Town's mailbox. Please email Deputy Clerk Addie Tych with questions.

TOWN CLERK TREASURER POSITION

After decades of service of exemplary service our town clerk treasurer Sue Ann Spens had made the decision to retire in early 2026. We have posted the following position to find candidates. Here is the job positing if you know of anyone who might be interested in applying. https://www.governmentjobs.com/jobs/134082-1/clerk-treasurer-beaux-arts-village-wa

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council held their Regular Meeting on November 11, 2025 to discuss/act on the following:

  • 2026 Budget. Held the second of two public hearings on the Town’s budget for 2026. This second hearing focused on fine-tuning revenues and added anticipated expenditures to the discussion. The Council will adopt a final 2026 Budget at their December meeting.
  • Town Survey. Continued their review of the SE Quadrant Survey with Town Engineer Stacia Schroeder. In addition to comments about the scope of the survey, Councilmembers considered what to do, if anything, about the number of private encroachments (primarily fences) onto Town property.
  • Critical Areas Ordinance. Continued their review of the proposed Critical Areas Ordinance as drafted by the Planning Commission and Town Planner. This ordinance will be given a final review during a public hearing at the December meeting after which the Council expects to pass it.
  • Fees. Adopted new and or restructured fees by resolution to ensure the Town is covering its out-of-pocket costs for permits and other Town services.

The next Council meeting will be on December 9th at Councilmember Stowe’s. At that meeting, the Council will hold a public hearing to amend the 2025 Budget, will adopt the Town’s 2026 operating budget by ordinance, and will hold a public hearing on the proposed Critical Areas Ordinance.
