It has been another exciting year for the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce. Our office continues to take steps to provide resources to our members and to create strategies for future success.
Our Member Survey, conducted via email in October, helped to identify business challenges and aspirations. The top issues facing respondents of the Member Survey are talent acquisition and retention, increased costs, and marketing. The Survey confirmed that the number one reason people join our Chamber is to network and build community and respondents felt the Chamber’s strength is helping our members make connections. Aspirations for the Chamber ranged from coordinating more events to being the convener of a community plan to helping to develop our community’s image.
Some of the Chamber’s accomplishments in 2022 include:
- We added a monthly, well-attended networking lunch called Pop-in-4-Lunch. Forty-five member businesses have participated in this program.
-
The Corporate Cup Challenge was rebooted into a one-day event and provided 16 teams with a platform for community engagement, fun, and team building. One of our participants said, "An overall great event that allowed us to connect with our communities and others that we may not normally.”
-
The Economic Outlook Luncheon provided an overview of challenges among eight different industries since the pandemic and provided solutions-based strategies for our community to help rebuild.
- We have created an Advocacy Committee dedicated to establishing productive relationships between businesses and public officials, educating members, and facilitating discussions about issues that impact business.
- The Chamber is currently in the midst of the strategic planning process, dedicated to optimizing our resources to better serve our members.
As we make those plans, we have new programs for 2023! To continue to provide outstanding networking opportunities, our breakfast event is now called Day Break Mt. Pleasant, which will be held quarterly and provide an educational component in addition to networking. Please be sure to look for our first one to be scheduled in February. We are starting a Woman in Business Roundtable program where six amazing women in our community will facilitate a discussion on various topics of what it means to be a working woman today. We are also exploring how we can be a part of a workforce development and economic development solution.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to focusing on our member’s needs and utilizing solutions-based thinking to help build an economically prosperous community.
