Grant Oversight Board (GOB) Volunteers Needed

Be part of the process to improve the outcome for children/youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED).

We are currently accepting applications to volunteer with the NAMI NH Grant Oversight Board (GOB). The GOB members receive an attendance stipend for each bi-monthly meeting. Meetings are currently online with the potential for in-person meetings in 2023. Board experience is not needed; we are interested in those who are enthusiastic about providing information and support to families and youth.  The requirement is your lived experiences as a parent or caregiver supporting someone with their mental health wellness.

Training Update

It’s Your Move was offered in October 2022 followed by It’s Your Move 2.0 in November 2022. Stay tuned for future It's Your Move training opportunities to empower your voice as an advocate.

The NAMI Basics course was offered this Fall. By participating in NAMI Basics, you’ll realize that you are not alone. You’ll find support and shared understanding—compassion, reinforcement and empathy from people who truly get your situation. And don’t forget: Your experiences may also help others in the course. Together, you will all learn that recovery is a journey, and there is hope.

Stay tuned for an update on NAMI Basics in March 2023

Thank You to Terri Clyde for Her Service on the Grant Oversight Board!

We would like to thank Terri Clyde for serving on the Grant Oversight Board (GOB) for the last 2 years. Terri describes herself as someone who has a passion for families and kids and believes everyone can be a wonderful and productive person.

Terri reflected on her time as part of the GOB and said it was a great opportunity to make a difference and have your voice heard while exploring what could be out there to help families. Terri is passionate about early childhood prevention and intervention and enjoyed the guest speakers and the opportunity to work with the school districts during her time on the GOB.

“Get your voice out there so people know what you are seeing and your lived experience. Maybe the needs are being met but what can we do to make sure the support doesn’t get dropped?” (Terri Clyde)

You are not alone and there is hope.

A volunteer's message to youth.

Haley Urbanik has been a key volunteer for NAMI NH during the last 4 years and we would like to thank her for her contribution to multiple events and committees. Haley moderated the Life Under Construction (LUC) social media platforms for youth.

A LUC follower commented, “That page (Life Under Construction) has literally changed my life…when I start to get overwhelmed, I like to just scroll through the Life Under Construction Instagram page.”

Haley participated on the committees for annual awards and volunteer engagement, staffed resource tables at community events and raised money each year for NAMIWalks NH. Haley also served as secretary during her 3 years on the NH Family Network Grant Oversight Board.

Most importantly, Haley always let youth and young adults know that they are not alone, that they should focus on self-care, and that there is hope.

We wish Haley the best as she moves on to the next chapter of her life and want her to know how much she contributed to improving the lives of individuals and families in the Granite State.

Self-Care – K-Cup Bath Bombs

This is a tried-and-true recipe in our house so I will add a few tips. I do not enjoy adding lavender because it floats. I prefer all the ingredients to fizz and dissolve! Also, these are great to package as foot soaks for gifts and be sure to stash away a few for yourself!

NH Family Network Coordinator

Hello,

I am Deb Jurkoic and I have recently joined NAMI NH as the NH Family Network Coordinator. I hope that the content of the Children’s Department Newsletter provides an overview of the breadth and depth of support NAMI NH offers. We are constantly looking at what families need and how we can continue to provide relevant content. Please click through on the links or pick up the phone to reach out to us at any time. I am working at NAMI NH because I have lived experience and want to be part of the process of providing support and tools for families and their loved ones.

We wish you a safe and Happy Holiday Season!
