Quote of the Month:

"Los Angeles is not only about Hollywood, the glam, the fame... There's a lot of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics that collaborates to produce and help contribute to the entertainment industry."

~ Visitor from the #HiddenNoMore: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM program.
IVCLA's Annual Fulbright Luncheon
IVCLA would like to thank all the Fulbright students, visiting scholars, IVCLA International Visitors and members who joined us at this year's annual Fulbright Luncheon. A former Fulbright student himself, Dr. Amarjit Marwah hosts the luncheon to encourage students from different cultures and customs to form connections that will last beyond their time in the U.S.

IVCLA strives to bring awareness to the importance of mutual understanding between international influencers and Angelenos to work together to promote peace and prosperity. As the year comes to an end we look forward to welcoming new visitors in 2020, as well as implementing new ways to keep building meaningful connections for our members.
#HiddenNoMore: Women in STEM
Last month  IVCLA  welcomed 50 women leaders in  STEM  from 50 different countries to L.A. for the conclusion of their three-week  #HiddenNoMore   International Visitor Leadership Program . For the third year, 50 women were invited to the U.S. to meet with organizations, universities, researchers, and experts throughout the country as they shared their journey in making advancements in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Many of the participants bonded through their personal struggles in pursing careers in fields where women are underrepresented. They expressed the importance of paving the path for younger generations of women to find the motivation and inspiration to follow their passion.
"Girls/women are more likely to go into STEM if they personally know someone in STEM, have a STEM role model and have teachers, friends and family members who encouraged them to pursue STEM."
While in L.A., the women attended panels, workshops, and a closing reception at Walt Disney Studios, where they were recognized for their achievements and contributions. Some of the experiences IVCLA arranged for the visitors included a presentation from the Geena Davis' Institute on Gender Studies , and a Vortex Dome presentation and discussion on art’s intersection with the STEM fields at LA Center Studios. It was coordinated by Glen Kalison, Founder of Studio Enterprise, and IVCLA Board Member Stephen Ozoigbo, International Advisor at LA Center Studios. The women also attended a panel discussion with women representatives from Walt Disney Imagineering, which focused on the need for workforce diversity and how women in STEM roles can promote it.
