St. Brigid Safety Awareness

In light of the recent tragedies in churches in Texas and Tennessee, St. Brigid of Kildare recently held two workshops for ushers and staff members covering procedures for emergencies.  In order to ensure a safer environment, all people attending masses should be aware of all church exits.

Please click here for a map of the church.  All of the exits are marked in red on the map.  Next time you are in the church, please take a moment to locate your nearest exit.

St. Brigid is Our Home
The Jeric Family

St. Brigid has been the center of our family life since we moved to Dublin from Aurora, Ohio in 2003, when Rick began working for Bishop Griffin at the Diocesan offices.  We knew no one in Columbus and narrowed down where we wanted to live based upon looking at parishes with grade schools and the Catholic high school feeder system; Catholic education through high school was imperative for us.  We moved into our new home less than a mile from St. Brigid on the first day of school.  Maria was starting 1st grade, Christian was in 6th, and Richard was a freshman at Watterson.  We were off and running!

I (Theresa) became involved at St. Brigid School right away doing various parent volunteer jobs in the classrooms, Home and School committees, and Girl Scouts.  I met so many wonderful people, many of whom are STILL my best friends!  Rick helped coach some CYO teams and got involved with other parents through various school and parish activities; he is a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, and I became a Eucharistic Minister a few years later.  Over the years, we also were involved at St. Charles and Watterson, but our St. Brigid friends have remained like family who get together every week for 9:00 AM Sunday Mass and fellowship afterward.

Our children participated in many parish service activities over the years, including altar serving, various music ministry roles (children's and high school choirs, pianist, high school helper), serving as sacristans and Eucharistic Ministers.  We are spiritually tied to St. Brigid as well -- Maria has received three of her Sacraments here, and Richard and Chris received Confirmation.  They all enjoy coming back "home" for Mass when they are in town, and visiting with our priests and deacons, and especially Monsignor Hendricks who has been a great role model and influence on our family.  Even as we have become empty nesters and our children have become adults, St. Brigid still really IS our family's Home!

EPIC Middle School Youth Group

January Meeting:
Our next EPIC youth group will be January 21, when we will host the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio's (DSACO) school-aged social group.  Our EPIC kids will be the hosts and big buddies of the kids with Down Syndrome, and will lead each of the fun stations that they will visit, including games, an obstacle course, a dance station, and a sensory station. They will also serve snack to the kids and their parents.

If you know of someone grades K-6 with Down Syndrome, please invite them to our event and let Kim VanHuffel know, so she will have an idea how many kids to plan for.  The more the merrier!  It should be a fun day for the kids and will be a great introduction to DSACO for them and their parents as well.

As always, we will begin with 12:15 p.m. Mass by the baptismal font and then come to Hendricks Hall for pizza prior to our guests arriving.   Pickup will be at 4:15 p.m.   Please RSVP to Kim.

EPIC Registration:
If you have a child interested in joining EPIC, don't worry, it is never too late to join!  EPIC is for all 7th and 8th graders of the parish.  Simply go to the parish website at stbrigidofkildare.org, and select "Youth" and "Middle School Youth Group" from the drop down menu.  Then fill out the online registration form at the bottom of the page under "links."  There is no fee to participate.  If you have questions, contact Kim VanHuffel at [email protected] .

Men's Cornerstone Retreat

The Men's Cornerstone Retreat has grown over the last 8 years.  Cornerstone IX is for Men of St. Brigid who feel called to ignite, grow or renew their spiritual faith.  The Cornerstone Retreat, with the theme "Anchored in Faith, Guided by the Holy Spirit," will start at 6pm on Friday, January 26th, 2018 and will end on Sunday, Jan 28th by 12 noon.  The Retreat is being held at the St. Therese Retreat Center in Columbus, OH.  The facility and food are incredible with every participant getting his own room.  In addition, the Chapel is a sight to behold.  The Retreat is organized, planned and executed by the men of our parish.  No matter where you are on your faith journey you will be comfortable and find the content and activities engaging.  Come and develop a relationship with 50 other men in our parish through fellowship.  Space is limited so sign up early.  Registration forms can be found at the back of church and emailed from the contact listed.   Please contact Mark Sellers at 614-571-8267 or [email protected]
