Did you know?
As of the end of November, CenCal Health had over 171,000 members.
A Word from the CEO
Dear CenCal Health Friends,

2015 was a year where CenCal Health strived to raise our profile in the community-at-large in order to be a better resource for health-related information in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. In the last 24 months, our membership has grown exponentially to over 170,000 members. We now provide healthcare coverage to one in four Santa Barbara County residents and one in five San Luis Obispo County residents.

What that means is that there are more people depending on CenCal Health and its provider partners for quality healthcare than ever before. Therefore, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to educate, inform, and provide access to our members and providers to a variety of important information as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The most visible reflection of this effort is our new website, launched this past November. It's now easier than ever to find a physician, check member eligibility, or even find a new, healthy recipe for dinner tonight. The concept of healthcare itself is expanding to not only include doctor's appointments and prescriptions, but also eating better, getting proper exercise, putting on sunscreen, etc. We hope we're assisting people through our new website to make following this path as easy and successful as possible. Explore it for yourself at  www.cencalhealth.org and let us know what you think. Happy Holidays, and thank you for your partnership.

Sincerely,
Bob Freeman, CEO

A Look Back on CenCal Health's
Annual Membership of 2015

CenCal Health saw a dramatic increase in membership following the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which went into effect January 1, 2014. It was originally projected that Medi-Cal Managed Care with CenCal Health would increase by 15 percent, but it increased by an approximate 30 percent. Membership continued to increase this year. In January our membership total was 155,904, and currently we serve 171,979 members. Below is a membership comparison between January 2015 and our current membership total.

New Sponsorship Request Process

Effective January 1, 2016, CenCal Health is implementing a new process for sponsorship of events within our community. Our new sponsorship request form will soon be located on the Community Resource tab, in the community section on our website. Companies and agencies like yours can read about our requirements and new protocol for requesting sponsorship of your event from CenCal Health. In this way, we are able to learn more about your specific request, and determine what your goals are for your event and how they fit in with our mission, vision and values, specific to our new strategic plan.

Our strategic plan has a priority that is aimed at community value, and supporting our two counties while raising visibility for our organization and the community we serve, and doing so in a fiscally responsible manner. We look forward to continued collaboration with community-based organizations we have worked with in the past, and are eager to know about other organizations we have not yet worked with. We hope you'll take the time to explore this section (coming soon!), and we look forward to meeting the needs of our members and the community-based organizations that serve them.
CenCal Health Thanks Its Community Partners
CenCal Health would like to recognize its community partners that worked closely with us this year, participating in events and providing community service to our members. Our community partners play a vital role in engaging our membership with supports and services to meet their needs. Below are some examples of our community collaboration this year. Thank you, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County community partners. We look forward to our continued partnership in 2016!
