Hello Everyone,
Movember is done and dusted for 2021. From the bottom of my hairy heart, I want to thank you for your support. I took part in the Movember Physical Challenge, which is 60KM walk or run (I walked) for the 60 men we lose each hour of every day. From my football pools, hosting Mo Pasta night or straight donations, year after year; everyone steps up! For me, it was a little different this year as I did most of my hustling prior to November and primarily stuck to my social media campaign. This was successful as I was able to smash my goal of $4000 by raising a total of $5105! Together, our team raised a whopping total of $25,510 which is incredible! This is the most funds raised in Saskatchewan for Movember! I know of a team that tried to claim that title; but I called them out on socail media and challenged them next year for a top fundraising dual.
It was nice to see some new supporters and the returning ones as well. Next year, I hope to double the amount of team members to well over 40 so keep that in mind when I come around next fall! I have a lot of fun growing and posting my thank you's; but most importantly, talking and bringing awareness to men's health issues.
As Mo Pasta was a take-out only event this year, it was a mild success so that means it's time for a new concept next year. There was one other fundraiser I took part in which had great traction; it was called "Sask Hot One", a hot wing challenge. This event featured seven local sauces from Saskatchewan, with the top three sauces having Scoville heat units of 500,000, 700,000 and 2.5 million!! It messed me up for a couple of days; but well worth the cause as this event raised almost $2000 for Movember!
Congratulations to the winners of the Movember prizes, Steve Kunz (Fire & Safety) who won the "Men's Prize Package", Dylan Magdalin (Pipe Fitter) for best "Creeper Stache", Richard Exner (Sec II) and myself, Mike Neigum (Scaffolding) who won two of the four wellness credits. I would also like to thank Justin Saworki and Josh Nueberger from the clothing apparel company, "Toxic Wheatland" for their contribution of prizes. The winners for those were Ryan Dzioba (Pumps), Amy Wisniewski (Accounting) and again, Dylan Magdalin. Another thanks goes to the Health and Wellness committee for their generous prizes.
Looking forward to the 2022 campaign, Mo love,
Mike Neigum
