Guests Celebrate the Season at Heritage Conservancy's Annual Christmas at Aldie Celebration

Our Aldie Mansion tree adorned with festive decorations.

On the first Sunday of December, over 150 people joined us for our 35th annual Christmas at Aldie event. It was a magical night of carols, cocktails, and convivial company, celebrating and supporting the mission of Heritage Conservancy in high style.

Adorned with gilded hallways and sparkling decor, this year’s theme was ‘Winter Wonderland.’ The mansion’s festive design served as a reminder of its historical beauty and the importance of its preservation. Aldie's history spans nearly 100 years, and was commissioned as a beloved private residence by William and Martha Mercer. Our work includes preserving its historical architecture, which originally served as an ode to the English Tudor manor style.

The Perfect Last-Minute Gift or Family Craft: DIY Bird Suet

Feeding winter birds is fun and easy with our giftable DIY bird suet

Looking for a fun craft for the (grand)kids? Consider making some holiday-themed bird suet. It is an easy, cheap, and fun way to attract birds to your yard this winter.

Birds frequent feeders throughout the year, but visit them more during the winter months when other food resources are scarce. Providing suet for birds can be a great way to attract them to your property, help them find resources during hard times, and even help restore native plant communities.

Follow these easy instructions and let the birds come to you.

Children's Holiday Open House at Aldie Mansion

Members and their families gathered at Aldie Mansion to enjoy holiday festivities.

On December 14th, we hosted a Members-exclusive special family event at Aldie Mansion!

Families and young children enjoyed the beautiful holiday decorations and massive Christmas tree while making fun, nature-inspired crafts. Those who completed our self-guided tour and scavenger hunt received a Heritage Conservancy blanket or bag as a prize.

Heritage Conservancy hosts Member-exclusive events throughout the year and is proud to engage with community members and families.

Postcards From the Past: The Mercers' Christmas Cards

The Mercers shared images of their manor in their holiday cards.

Christmas provided William and Martha Mercer a magnificent chance to create, collect, and share striking images of their Aldie Mansion home. Holiday card illustrations offer a rarified glimpse into their life in Bucks County and even the pets who lived in the house and gardens, like their peacock Solomon.
