Welcome to the newest edition of the Cornerstones newsletter. The BACnet International community benefits from information and education shared through Cornerstones, the organization's monthly electronic publication. This publication is distributed to members of the BACnet International community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual users to BACnet news and updates.

Cornerstones is a unique publication because it speaks not only to the engineer and contractor communities, but also to facility professionals, building managers and owners, and other personnel.

This is where you come in. We need you to connect! If there is company news, product news, BACnet Success Story or a best practice you want to share, please send them to us. And don't leave out the photos! Read past Cornerstones and Success Stories.

BACnet-centric Guide Spec

Presenter: Grant Wichenko

Monday, February 6th | 11:00 - 12:00 PM

Location: B314

Based on Department of Defense (DoD) documents. This session will showcase the first public look at BACnet International's interpretation of the Guide Specification. The Guide Spec covers BACnet objects and services and can be inserted into the Building Automation System (BAS) Designer’s existing Division 23 or 25 specification. This Guide Spec will be a valuable resource for BAS Designers and Specifiers as it will save time and make it much easier to develop project documents, plus it's free. Attendees at this session will receive a link to be one of the first to download the Guide Spec.

Deploying BACnet/SC

This panel discussion with industry experts addresses BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) deployment. It will answer important questions about on-boarding, provisioning and updating systems using the security certificates required for BACnet/SC.

Finding Your Way Around the Global BACnet Community

This presentation is similar to the "Hitchhiker's Guide to BACnet" session but it is part of the AHR Expo New Product & Technology showcase.

Finding BACnet information and education resources just got easier, and this presentation will show how. We will explore the new BACnet global web portal created through a major, coordinated update to the five most frequently visited BACnet sites.

All education sessions will be recorded. Recordings will be uploaded to The BACnet Institute Resource Library in early 2023.

AHR Carpet Stickers

Display one in your booth!

As in past years, we will have carpet stickers that you can use in your booth to highlight that your company has a BTL Listed product. Feel free to stop by the BACnet International booth (C5400) to pick them up. We will also be walking the floor pre-show dropping them off. Approximately, 800 products and 80 companies have earned the right to use the BTL Mark.

Our journal has been revamped with a new look and name! Check out the latest issue of the Journal of Building Automation (formerly the BACnet International Journal) to read the latest news and updates on the BACnet protocol and the building automation industry!

Opportunities

BACnet International

at the AHR Expo:

BACnet International, along with 80 member companies, will be exhibiting at the 2023 AHR Expo in Atlanta from February 6th - 8th. There will also be almost 800 BTL Listed Products represented at the show. Look for the BTL carpet stickers which will highlight those companies that have at least one listed product.

If you'll be attending the AHR Expo we've got some great opportunities for you to gain knowledge and network. Aside from the education sessions mentioned above, stop by the BACnet International booth (C5400) to learn more about BTL testing & certification, the free resources available in The BACnet Institute, and the future of BACnet security.

TBI Resource Corner

Every month, BACnet International will highlight a resource from The BACnet Institute Resource Library!

This month’s featured resource is “A BACnet Retrospective from People Who Were There.” This riveting history of how the BACnet protocol became what it is today, features reflections from the late Mike Newman, the “Father of BACnet” and Steve Busby.

The BACnet Institute (TBI) is an online portal for BACnet-focused learning and knowledge sharing. It provides an easy path to BACnet information and learning for everyone involved with BACnet systems. The portal includes three on-demand FREE courses and over 150 resources including white papers, articles, presentations and a community forum. TBI Resources are free, but registration for an account is required. Courses are eligible for CEUs and PDHs.

Each year TBI continues to grow. Since its launch in January 2017, over 6,000 registered users across more than 80 countries have accessed its resources. TBI’s simple search function allows users to get quick access to anything they need.
