Holiday Happenings and New Program Season Ahead
Latest news from your Si View team
Winter season is nearly here! Your Si View team is ready to launch a new session of activities and events. In addition to perennial favorites, we look forward to bringing back the Indoor Playground (take our re-opening survey here), launching a weekly Walking Club, and offering monthly park tour walks with our Commissioners. If you missed our youth recreation basketball league or youth dance sign ups in the Fall, now is the time to catch the next session. It has been great to see kids back in action this Fall and the momentum is building quickly. You'll also notice we've made some changes to swim lesson registration in an effort to better serve our growing community. What activities will you choose? Happy winter recreation activity planning!

You have heard this before, but it's worth repeating - we continue to hire for part-time positions. These roles provide critical support for our programs and facilities at a time when we are gearing up for expanded offerings. We have openings for recreation leaders and a recreation lead supervisor in our before & after school program at Si View, a building supervisor for youth basketball programs at local schools, an evening/weekend building supervisor for the community center, and lifeguard positions for the pool. You can find details here, and please share with others who may be a great fit for the Si View team!

Community health continues to be a top priority in all our programs and practices. Statewide mask mandate and King County vaccine verification order are in effect for programs and events at Si View facilities. More information is available on our website. Thank you for your support in keeping our community healthy.

With holidays just around the corner, consider stopping by the Community Center to pick up a gift tag from the Kiwanis Giving Tree. This program is a wonderful way of brightening the holidays for a local child.

See you at local parks!
Annual Holiday Bazaar Returns to Si View
Saturday December 4, 9AM-4PM
Our Holiday Bazaar is back! Join us for this indoor fair, featuring talented artisans with locally handmade goods, perfect for gift giving. We've taken safety precautions by limiting vendor booths to minimize crowding, and while live entertainment won't be a part of the program this year, you can count on cheery holiday tunes in the background throughout the day. We'll also be raffling off gorgeous gift baskets with items donated by our vendors. Admission to this event is free. Statewide mask mandate and King County vaccine verification order are in effect for indoor programs at Si View facilities. Learn more here.
Ready. Set. Winter Registration!
Program registration opens December 10
It's time to register for winter season activities! Our seasonal guides arrive in local mailboxes this week, and registration opens Friday December 10th. We have a wide variety of activities from swim lesson to adult fitness, be sure to register early for the best selection. Some of our new activities include Walks with a Commissioner to tour our local parks, hikes for homeschoolers, and Futsal for youth. Come try a new program this winter! You can browse through our winter offerings online now, or if you'd like a copy of the guide, stop by the community center.
Changes to Swim Lesson Registration Practices
Session A registration opens December 10th
We are changing our swim lesson registration practices to better meet community needs. When winter registration opens on December, you can sign up for SESSION A lessons only (January 10-February 17 lessons). Students enrolled in SESSION A will have priority registration for sessions B (February 28-April 2 lessons) and C (April 18-May 21) before sign ups open for general registration. Open enrollment resumes for all students in Session D. This will help students complete the recommended two consecutive sessions of the same level prior to registering for higher levels.

Practices for private lessons registration is also changing. Rather than selecting single lesson dates, students will register for private lessons by session to ensure the day and time stay consistent for the duration of the session. Winter 2022 Swim lesson registration dates will be as follows:

  • Session A: December 10 Open enrollment to all students
  • Session B: February 11-14 Priority; February 16 Open enrollment
  • Session C: March 29-April 2 Priority; April 4 Open enrollment

North Entrance Improvements at Si View Park
New pedestrian path and maintenance building coming soon
We're improving connectivity, aesthetics and pedestrian safety between Si View Park and William Henry Taylor Park by realigning the North entrance area of Si View Park. The project includes removing the old “King County shed” and another existing structure on site, and replacing those with a new maintenance building near the entrance and a separated landscaped pathway. This work will provide much needed space for District equipment to maintain the growing parks inventory and enhance the overall visitor experience when entering the park with realignment of the entrance trail.

Last month crews removed a structure along Park Street on the construction site in preparation for the new maintenance building. The remaining building removal is scheduled in phases so that the District has access to storage for as long as possible. Construction of the new maintenance building is anticipated for Spring of 2022 with project completion by end of Summer 2022. This project is funded through the 2018 Capital Bond and the District Capital Projects Fund. Temporary closures of the North entrance may be necessary during construction.
Future Aquatic Center Plans
We're working on options to develop a center to better serve our growing community.
While we wait for the results of the competitive King County parks levy grant program, an updated cost estimate for the Phase I proposed aquatic center has been completed. As expected, construction costs continue to rise each year. The good news is that the investment already made in land acquisition, the optimistic outlook on grant funding availability, and our growing tax base, all support moving forward to the next step of the process, which is surveying our residents for the level of support of a capital bond measure. This statistically valid survey will be conducted this winter.

Our website is a good resource for information about this project, and a great tool to share with new neighbors and anyone interested in learning more! We'll continue to provide updates as more details become available. We welcome your comments and questions. This is a project for the community, by the community. Please reach out to us by calling (425)831-1900 or email us.
Electric Vehicle Charging Station at Si View Park

Thanks to a generous donation by a private individual, our community has a brand new electric car charging station available at Si View Park. This public station is located in the main parking plaza, on the south facing side of the lot. Now you can explore the park while your car battery is charging. Give it a try!
