Hello Emerson Friends,
I hope this finds each of you safe, healthy and looking forward to the holidays!
This has been a challenging year for everyone and we truly appreciate your continued support. We may be a tad biased - but we believe that ART should be at the top of everyone's gift giving list! So, please fill those wish lists while also supporting your local artists and galleries. Your support will help many wishes come true! As this year draws to close, please keep all the amazing arts organizations responsible for enriching and enhancing the culture and vibrancy of Bozeman in your thoughts.
Wishing each of you a healthy and joy filled holiday season!
Susan Denson-Guy
Executive Director

Help us spread cheer this holiday season by sharing a picture of yourself with your favorite mug on our Facebook or Instagram pages.
We miss gathering with our friends and community, a lot. It's the little things like friendly smiles and casual conversations that we miss the most. Our holiday wish is to share a moment with you, even if it is virtual.
You can make our wish come true by:
  1. grabbing your favorite mug
  2. find a safe space where you don't need a mask
  3. take a photo of your smiling self and your mug
  4. post to the Emerson Instagram (@theemerson_mt) or Facebook
  5.  use #EmersonMissYourMug
  6. Invite your friends to share their mugs

The Magic of Year-End Donations
Community support allows the Emerson to serve as a community gathering place for arts and culture. We are grateful for your support. This has been a long year full of unexpected challenges. COVID 19 has paused our ability to gather and has challenged our organization.
We're still here, working hard to keep arts and culture accessible! We are adapting our education programs to meet the needs of students and families. We are curating meaningful exhibits and finding new ways to share them. And, we are caring for our historic building that is home to 58 small creative businesses. While the Crawford Theater is quiet, we are resurfacing the stage and making improvements throughout the building. We are continuing to promote the arts and artists. We are working hard to ensure that the Emerson is ready to start making awesome memories as soon as we can safely gather again.
This year, your support means more than ever before. Please help us keep the magic of arts & culture thriving for our community! Consider making a year-end tax-deductible donation to the Emerson.

Becca's current body of work centers around acrylic portraiture.
"The driving force behind my portraits is an enduring interest in people; in the value of the human spirit, and in the beauty of relationships. I love listening to peoples' stories, celebrating individuals and immortalizing moments."

Stormy DuBois and Patrick Gillis
Stormy DuBois' works describe the vividness of dreams, a longing for a feeling, and the whimsy of escape. Horrible places and beautiful ships become habitats for fantastical creatures representing a completely despondent regard for reality. These nonsensical works, she believes, create a space for the mind to wander and indulge in childlike fantasy without shame or disapproval.
Patrick Gillis's highly personal collages and paintings explore negativity and its importance in processing current events. What most shamefully reject, Gillis confronts and exaggerates to the point of humor in an attempt to accept them as a fundamental part of the human experience without dampening one's identity.
Although their styles in expression are different, DuBois and Gillis both offer solutions to the pandemonium which has defined the year. Like a cat chasing its tail, their works wrestle with grief, denial, loss, shame, and disassociation by means of tedious process, which hints at hope but never resolution.

The Jessie Wilber Gallery is closed until January. Please note that masks and social distancing precautions are required in gallery spaces for your health and well being.
