Summer pleasures they are gone like to visions every one
And the cloudy days of autumn and of winter cometh on
I tried to call them back but unbidden they are gone Far away from heart and eye and for ever far away
John Clare (1793-1864)
Remembrances [1832?], l. 17

Thursday, December 19, 6:30 pm
You are invited to join us for a presentation on the 2020 US Census. Only happening every ten years, it is an important event!
The census is much more than just a head count. It provides a picture of our nation that helps determine where to build new schools, hospitals, and businesses; how federal funding is distributed; and how congressional seats are apportioned.
Once every decade, the federal government conducts a census of the entire population to count everyone in the United States and record basic information about them. Our nation's founders believed this data was so important that they mandated the decennial census in the Constitution.
In 2020, for the first time ever, the U.S. Census Bureau will accept responses online, but you can still respond by phone or mail if you prefer.
Confidential and Secure Strict federal law protects your census responses. It is against the law for any Census Bureau employee to disclose or publish any census information that identifies an individual or business. Census Bureau employees take a lifelong pledge of confidentiality to handle data responsibly and keep respondents' information private.
Please consider attending the program on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 6:30 pm, where there will be lots of information on how the census works, why it is so important to participate, how to complete the forms correctly, and answers to your questions.
All welcome! Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Jacob Edwards Library.
If you are interested in helping to gather the data for the census, there are jobs at all levels and people are needed in our community. The presenter will talk about the job opportunities during the program and there is more information at the link below. This is a wonderful way to gain temporary employment or supplement ones income.

December's Craft - Big Gingerbread Houses!
Join us in December as we create large-format gingerbread houses from non-edible materials, and also learn about the history of the edible treat known as
Lebkuchen, celebrated in Nuremberg, Germany. As we continue our crafting tradition in the young adult area of using recyclable materials, we will build a super-sized house from found materials and objects, in the fashion of traditional food-based gingerbread houses. Creativity will be our guide this month! Drop in any time.
