DECEMBER EXHIBITIONS
Opening December 5th by Appointment Weekends Only
DOS DIABLOS
"Eulogy to the Enemy"
Dos Diablos-The Devil's Still Life,2020
Oil on canvas on board
15 x 12" (38.1 x 30.48 cm)
La Luz de Jesus Gallery is pleased to present “Eulogy to the Enemy, a solo exhibition by artist Dos Diablos. This will be the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. The portraits of Dos Diablos often unnerve and incite unease. As they are portraits of emotions, some people do not feel good contemplating my paintings – it is because of fear, because they see themselves in the paintings. It can be horrifying to see how you are.
KARIKATURA
"Mirrors"

Karikatura-El Triste,2020
Oil on board
13 x 9.5" (33.02 x 24.13 cm)
La Luz de Jesus Gallery is pleased to present “Mirrors” a solo exhibition by artist Karikatura. This will be the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery.

Each piece is a story, a visual narrative, of a journey into yourself. When you decide to start this path to healing, turn to see your wounds. To that, search for your peace and connect with your inner light. A process of transformation, in which I want to convey deep feelings and create mirrors where people can see themselves reflected in these stories, and sow that seed in consciousness, to do the internal work in each person.
RIFFBLAST & WICK ALEXANDER
"Everything Old is New Again"
Riffblast-Metalhead,2020
Acrylic on vintage chromolithogrpahy framed
18.5 x 13.3″ (47 x 34 cm)

La Luz de Jesus Gallery is pleased to present artists Riffblast & Wick Alexander “Everything Old is New Again”

Riffblast starts with religious chromo-lithographies with which then he alters by using water-based acrylics. He interpolates present-day icons meant to elicit the familiar and the sarcastic, but the message dives much deeper into the psyche of consumerism and corruption that he experiences in the predominantly Catholic country of Italy.

Wick Alexander Since 1980, San Diego native Wick Alexander has been producing distinctive paintings, sculptures, and public artworks. Awards for his paintings have been presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council and the Ford Foundation. His paintings are included in many private collections and museum permanent collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, and the Banff Center of the Arts in Alberta, Canada. Alexander has shown his work at the California Center for the Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, the CECUT in Tijuana, and most recently, at the San Diego History Center and the Oceanside Museum.
