Join us for a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga class followed by time for tea and conversation! Led by Karen of Sacred Turtle Yoga and Mary of Recreating Peace.

Restorative yoga emphasizes deep relaxation and stress reduction. It involves holding passive poses with the support of props such as bolsters and blocks (props will be provided to borrow). This class will also be accessible for students who wish to participate in chair yoga. Beginners welcome!

The 5th annual Write the Hook story writing contest for teens in grades 6 to 12, is open for entries. The deadline to submit an entry is midnight December 31. Write a hook for the beginning of a story. An irresistible hook impels the reader to want to read more to find out what happens next. No checkout needed; just grab a puzzle and enjoy! Return it when you’re done, or keep it if it’s become a favorite.

Bring up to two puzzles at a time to swap. Please make sure puzzles have all pieces, are in good condition, and contain a picture on the box.

Dale Partis Greene is an Artist Member of the Rockport Art Association and Museum and a past juried member of the National Association of Women Artists. She is also a member of the Newburyport Art Association, where she won the Laura Coombs Hills Winter Juried Show Award for Excellence in Oil, and has held solo featured artist exhibits in the Laura Coombs Hills Gallery. She belongs to Plein Air Painters of New Hampshire and is an associate artist at the North Shore Arts Association. She has won numerous awards in exhibits at Marblehead Art Association, Andover Arts Guild’s Art in the Park, and the Ipswich Art Show. She is a member of the Newburyport Ten Plein Air Painters which paints weekly in the Cape Ann area and hosts an annual exhibit at Newburyport Art Association.

Dale's work is displayed at the Library through the end of December. Drop in any time during our business hours to enjoy her exhibition.

Our large meeting room will be closed from January 20 through the end of February while important HVAC upgrades are completed. During this time, the space will be unavailable for public reservations and library programming. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve comfort and reliability in the year ahead.

During donation days you are welcome to donate books and DVDs in good condition.

Please note that textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, CDs, cassette tapes, VHS, vinyl records, puzzles, games, and toys are not accepted. Books that are moldy, damp, or otherwise damaged are also not accepted.

Donations are limited to 4 bags at a time. If you have a donation larger than 4 bags please email the Friends at fohwpl@gmail.com to discuss before bringing your items to the Library.
