December 2022 Internal E-Newsletter

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO

Dear colleagues,

In only three short weeks, 2022 will come to a close, as we look ahead to 2023 with fresh eyes and possibilities. This coming year, we look forward to hosting our Creating from the HeART: Cultivating our Beloved Community event on April 27th to highlight our Urban Scholars Program and showcase LifeBridge as one of eight designated Outpatient Urban Trauma Centers in Connecticut - a community celebration of self-expression and well-being through the arts.

Part of our Beloved Community theme this year involves bringing our facility and neighborhood alive with color through the painting of a mural on our LifeBridge facility in Bridgeport. The mural will be designed by the youth participating in our Urban Scholars Program, under the guidance of our incredible art instructors. Just two of the wonderful and exciting things ahead!

Nearing the end of the year is the busiest time of year for many. Between planning meals, searching for the perfect gifts, and creating and attending gatherings for family and friends, it is easy to get caught up in the holiday’s festivities. Although we may not remember many of the gifts we received during our childhood, we do seem to remember our family traditions and the time spent with our loved ones. That is my hope for each of you this holiday season – fond memories. May your days be merry and bright, and your holiday and New Year full of joy and laughter.

Warmly,

Edith

Behavioral Health Client Satisfaction Survey

With the help of Virginia Payton, the behavioral health department made a concerted effort recently to gain feedback from the people we serve. The results were impressive, demonstrating the powerful impact we have. In November, we received data from 259 satisfaction surveys (which is what we typically collect in six months!), which revealed 82% of clients believed that LifeBridge had helped them, 89% thought that their clinician was on their side and believed in them and 93% would recommend us to their friends and family. Surveys are completed off- and online.

A few comments included:

  • “Everyone here is wonderful and nice”
  • “I strongly love the support I get from people here”
  • “I really enjoy the atmosphere at LifeBridge and staff have grown”
  • “Literally the best. I love coming here and look forward to my appointment each week.”

Urban Scholars Program

Urban Scholars celebrated Thanksgiving on November 18. Activities included creating a “What I am thankful for” pennant, friendship bracelets, watching a movie and enjoying a homemade Thanksgiving dinner.

We recently partnered with Brave Enough To Fail, a student-focused educational nonprofit that provides motivational programs, educational resources, and scholarships to help students succeed in school and beyond to implement their BOSS program with our older scholars.

BOSS Academy is a social emotional learning curriculum to help young people take charge and be the boss of their dreams.

Cheers to Jennifer Reyes in our Sign Language Interpreting division on the birth of her daughter, Iris Maria!

Have someone or something else to celebrate? Submit Cheers for Peers here or blank cards can be found in the Bridgeport reception area. Please leave completed cards in the Development Office.

Successful Toy Drive

Thank you to Paige Greene and her team of Community Closet volunteers for distributing Toy Drive donations to our clients to help make their holidays brighter and to all who helped spread the word for donations and/or "shopping" appointments.

The Community Closet is an essential resource for the families we serve.

Join our Giving Day Team

Join us for our FINAL Giving Day Campaign on February 23. We are looking for at least 25 staff volunteers to help us win one more grand prize! The commitment: You agree to raise 10 separate gifts of $10 each from friends or family the day of the event. It's that easy, and it could help us to leverage thousands in prize funding for the families we serve. Are you in? Please alert Lori Goertz.

Please save the date for the Staff Kick-off Meeting on 1/11 at 1:00 PM in Bridgeport.
