Bloomington Bookfest
The planning team for Bloomington Bookfest has been working hard getting ready for the big event, which will be on Saturday, March 2 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Middle School.

The Media Specialist from our BPS elementary schools are working on 9 reading-themed rooms that will be set up for families to participate in fun book-centered activities. Local author and Bloomington resident Nancy Carlson will be giving two presentations about her journey becoming a children's book author and she will highlight her illustration work.

This free community-wide celebration coincides with National Read Across America Day and Theodor Seuss Geisel's (Dr. Seuss) birthday. There will be special parent centered activities on the importance of reading to children, a children's photo booth (featuring some well-know characters including Clifford the Big Red Dog , snacks, and representatives from the City of Bloomington, Artistry, and Bloomington Community Education available to discuss city-wide summer activities for children.

We are looking for volunteers to assist. If you are interested, email Julie at jkinsella@isd271.org. More information will be coming soon, which you will be able to view at Bloomingtonbookfest.org.
