December 2017 Member E-News
We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and that you enjoyed safe travels home from the SHPE National Conference in Kansas City. The whole SHPE team left feeling renewed and energized after spending the week with all of you seeing the mission in action. Everyone embodied the spirit of the SHPE familia and that generosity and kindness is what inspired the theme of our end-of year giving campaign. In case we haven’t said it lately, THANK YOU for your commitment to SHPE.
Do you know all the great things the SHPE familia has accomplished this year? This year has been our most exciting yet. Some highlights include:

  • We grew the SHPE familia. With 234 chapters and 10,609 members across the country, SHPE is bigger and more powerful than it’s ever been.
  • We hosted the largest gathering of Hispanic STEM professionals in the U.S. Our 2017 National Conference in Kansas City drew 6,600 participants and 220 exhibitors.
  • We inspired the next generation of innovators. Chapters across the country hosted 53 Noche de Ciencias events for K-12 students to participate in hands-on STEM activities with STEM professionals.
  • We helped SHPE members affected by disasters. In response to the hurricanes in Florida, Puerto Rico and Texas, SHPE raised more than $85,000 to get 67 students to our national conference in Kansas City.

When you support SHPE, you are directly supporting the innovative leaders the world needs right now. SHPE ensures that the best and brightest minds are not overlooked. We provide our members with the tools they need to push past barriers and achieve success.

Every donation makes a huge impact on what we can do. Please join us in strengthening the SHPE familia.
We're working now on a full wrap-up report from the 2017 National Conference, including pictures, quotes, demographics, and recaps of the program. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this preview!
