Crisis Center for South Suburbia

Tinley Park, IL – The Crisis Center for South Suburbia will host its annual fundraising gala, “Be the One – Color the World with Compassion,” on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Odyssey in Tinley Park. The event raises critical funds to support survivors of domestic violence and the Center’s lifesaving programs.

Presented by Exelon, the evening will feature survivor testimonials, live and silent auctions, a chance drawing, live entertainment, and an inspiring program highlighting the impact of the Crisis Center’s work. Proceeds support emergency housing, counseling, advocacy, education, and prevention services.

The gala will honor Cecelia McClellan and John Kahler with the Dianne Masters Award and recognize Blackedge Capital as Corporate Partner of the Year.

“This gala is an opportunity for our community to stand with survivors and turn compassion into action,” said Pam Kostecki, Executive Director.

  • Bringing History to Life with Jonathan EigTuesday, January 13 at 7p. Jonathan Eig is the bestselling author of six books, including his most recent, Pulitzer Prize-winning King: A Life. Vividly written and exhaustively researched, it is the first major biography in decades of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.―and the first to include recently declassified FBI files. In this revelatory new portrait of the preacher and activist who shook the world, Eig gives us an intimate view of King, who masterfully employed peaceful protest in the streets but was rarely at peace with himself. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present (ILP), a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. ILP is funded in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
