A Message from NHPRR Leadership

As the year comes to a close, we pause and reflect on what truly matters—connection, compassion and community—and would like to express our deepest appreciation. Across New Hampshire, recovery residences and community partners continue to show up and be of service to others. Over the past year, we have watched recovery residences support one another, adapt to change, and give back to their communities in powerful ways.

We are incredibly thankful for the recovery residence operators, peer leaders, residents, community partners, and state collaborators who trusted the vision of NHPRR, helped shape that vision, and helped bring it to life.

As we move into the New Year, we look forward to another year of growth, collaboration, and the shared purpose of bringing high-quality recovery homes to the residents of New Hampshire.

Here are some highlights of 2025:

  •  91 NHPRR-certified recovery homes statewide
  •  20 new certified homes in 2025
  •  231 new beds developed
  •  5 NHPRR-hosted trainings with 150 leaders attending
  • 10+ community events where NHPRR tabled and presented

Behind every number are people—operators strengthening their homes, residents building new lives, and communities working together to support recovery.

Recovery Spotlight: Merrimac Street Sober Living

Setting the Standard

Merrimac Street Sober Living Celebrates Recertification

Merrimac Street Sober Living is NHPRR’s very first certified recovery residence and this December we are proud to celebrate their recertification!

Recertification reflects an ongoing commitment to resident safety, ethical operations, and the social model of recovery. We appreciate Merrimac Street Sober Living for their leadership and partnership as NHPRR continues to grow. It was fantastic to meet new residents and interview some of the same residents as last year!

Recertification Ready!
A Quick Checklist to Stay on Track

With the start of 2026, we enter NHPRR’s first round of recertifications. A few important reminders:

  • Certemy—If you haven't already logged in under NHPRR, please do so!

  • Annual Fire Inspections—If you have a sprinkler system variance from the State Fire Marshals, an annual fire inspection from your local fire department is required per RSA 172: 10d. Please schedule these inspections to occur so that annual inspections can be uploaded for recertification.

  • To sign up for a recertification orientation, visit our website: https://nhprr.com/weekly-zoom-meetings/

  • DHHS Recovery Housing Registry Renewal—After completing NHPRR recertification, the DHHS Recovery Housing Registry renewal form must be completed to remain listed on the state registry.

This Thanksgiving season was a powerful reminder of what recovery truly represents: service, connection, and community.

Through collaboration between recovery residences, service providers, and community partners, over 200 individuals were served at a Thanksgiving event rooted in generosity and care. Residents and staff came together to prepare meals, volunteer their time, and ensure people felt welcomed and valued.

With heartfelt thanks to the organizations and homes who made this possible:

  • WorkPath Staffing Solutions

  • Into Action Sober Living

  • Live Free Recovery Services

  • Granite Recovery Centers

Your generosity and teamwork embody the true spirit of recovery and the holidays.

Winter Fire Safety:
Keeping Homes Safe & Cozy

As temperatures drop, safety is especially important:

  • Space heaters are not allowed in recovery residences.

  • Candles and all open flames are prohibited.

  • Smoking must occur at least 10 feet away from the home.

  • Be mindful of electronics and battery-powered devices.

  • Avoid overloading outlets and power strips.

  • Ensure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working.

  • Keep exits clear of snow and ice.

A safe home is a foundation for recovery.

Legislative Updates

SB 298: Relative to sober living house certification and operational standards is a bill that was introduced in the last legislative session. The bill in its original form required paid house leaders who had never been a resident within the organization and limited residents in recovery homes to individuals who had successfully completed or were active in SUD treatment.

This bill has since been amended, removing those requirements and is being re-introduced.

New Futures will host a webinar in early 2026. More information to come.
