The "Gift" of Pre-K
Dear Friends,

We know from research that Pre-Kindergarten is a "gift" that benefits everyone. Children who participate in Pre-Kindergarten receive the gift of learning, growing and developing skills that will set them up for success in school, career and life. In turn, we at MECK Pre-K receive the gift of these bright young children who enter our program every year.

Here's a great example from Patty, a MECK Pre-K parent.

"We are having an incredible experience with MECK Pre-K. My daughter’s facility, her teachers, the thoughtfulness of every aspect of the program from the time you walk in the door, to the shared family time at home has been amazing. Engaging is the best word to describe our experience. We are in the best learning environment for our child and wish all children could have a comparable experience."

As we wrap up 2019, consider who in your life might benefit from the gift of Pre-Kindergarten next year! We will begin registering new families for the 2020-2021 school year soon. Stay tuned for details coming early next year!
Do you have a testimonial like Patty's? Share your story using our new Recommendation Form. Simply fill it out and drop it off at your MECK Pre-K center, or scan it and email it to [email protected].
MECK Pre-K Kids in Action!

We recently visited some of our MECK Pre-K centers and captured the learning activities happening in our classrooms. These kids and teachers are doing a great job at making learning fun and enriching!
"Growing" With MECK Pre-K
TreesCharlotte is partnering with MECK Pre-K throughout the year to plant trees on our preschool campuses.

Our first two plantings were on December 3 at Smart Kids Child Development Center #9 and Mallard Creek Learning Center. The trees ranged from evergreens to flowering trees to canopy builders. Adult volunteers helped plant the trees, including nearly two dozen Bank of America employees at the Mallard Creek site. Trees Charlotte also provided tree education for the preschoolers at each site!
Mecklenburg County Survey
As you may know, MECK Pre-K is a County-funded service. This month, Mecklenburg County marked the start of the FY2021 budget cycle with the release of its Resident Budget Priority Survey. The survey is available through Jan. 8, 2020.

We hope you will take a moment to complete the survey and provide your comments on MECK Pre-K and other County-funded services.

As you take the survey, you will see in Question 1 that pre-k is included under Education as a service. In Question 3 it is listed as a standalone service.
