an epilepsy trainer and
Support Group Leader in
During Beth's tenure at Sonoma Valley Unified School District, s
he provided epilepsy education to school staff and students, easing the stigma surrounding epilepsy.
She requested that each
school post Seizure First Aid guidelines around the campus noting that a seizure can take place at anytime, to anyone and anywhere.
Beth is the "go to" person for anything seizure-related at school!
During Epilepsy Awareness Month in November she also reached out to her local newspaper continuing to shed light on epilepsy.
Beth currently works as a full-inclusion aide at a high school and at an adult residential facility specializing in autism spectrum in Sonoma County. She enjoys hiking, skydiving, kayaking, and being outdoors. Beth strongly believes that "knowledge and bringing epilepsy to the forefront can help us eliminate the stigma associated with epilepsy."
Thank you Beth for your incredible outreach and passion you bring to the epilepsy community!
The Book of Dreams
The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California has been selected to receive a grant for Youth Programs from the Sacramento Bee Book of Dreams! We are excited to use these funds for our new Mighty Mike, Bounce Out the Stigma Basketball camp coming to Sacramento in April 2016. In partnership with the Sacramento Kings, we are thrilled to bring this camp to Sacramento children for the first time! Watch for more information in our January Newsletter.
For more than 25 years, The Sacramento Bee's Book of Dreams has helped people and organizations in our community realize their dreams. Grants can be as simple as warm PJs for kids, music for seniors, or sewing machines to make cuddly blankets for children in need.
The Book of Dreams fund is administered by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and
funded through readers' donations to the annual project. A BIG THANK YOU to the Book of Dreams and the Sacramento Bee.
