Penfield Eastside YMCA will be hosting our Morning Spark. Join us for some holiday networking.  This event is an opportunity for members (and guests) to gather for informal networking and a cup of coffee.   Pop in before you head to the office. Bring your business cards to share with members attending.

2019 PBC Annual Meeting
A lively and well attended luncheon was enjoyed by the PBC membership. Our thanks to Penfield Supervisor Tony LaFountain, Director of Developmental Services Jim Costello, and Penfield Central School District Superintendent Tom Putnam for being our guest speakers at the event. A delicious lunch was provided by Penfield Country Club .

At the meeting, the proposed changes to the By-Laws were approved with a 27% membership approval. Two new Board Members were also elected along with re-electing two current Board members to another two year term.

Annual Business Awards
The Penfield Business Chamber is seeking nominations for the Annual Business Awards that are presented at the Holiday Party in January. The deadline for nominations is December 15, 2019.

  • Business of the Year Award: This award is given annually by the Penfield Business Chamber to honor a local business that has significantly contributed to the vitality and success of the Penfield business community. Nomination forms are available here.
  • Daniel Penfield Award: This award is given annually by the Penfield Business Chamber to honor a local business person who has positively impacted the Penfield business community through his or her community involvement, business practices and overall character. Click here for a nomination form.
  • Penfield Pride Award: Each year the Penfield Business Chamber recognizes a local business that rehabilitates an existing building, creates a vibrant new look and becomes a positive addition to Penfield's proud community. If you would like to submit a nomination, the form is here.

New Board Members
Brandon Maharaj lives in Irondequoit with his wife, Aaryn, daughters Korra and Ella, and sons Jake and Neymar. Brandon is a previous member of the Penfield Business Chamber and recently rejoined in his new position as Sales Ambassador for Astral Power , connecting businesses and residents to community solar farms across New York State. He is also owner of BEAN Insurance Agency, a small insurance agency located on Winton Rd in Rochester, and Sales Advisor for Aaryn Maharaj State Farm Agency. In his spare time, Brandon is a volunteer coach for Irondequoit Micro Soccer Club.
Toni Allocco has been a Penfield resident for fifteen years, and lives with her husband Scott, four children, and four dogs. She is the founding owner and partner of Maxim Spa and Salon located on Park Avenue in Rochester, celebrating their 20th year in 2020. Toni is also a former partner and president of Fraley and Fraley Painting and Wallcovering, Inc., a commercial painting company located in Rochester and operating in the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, Central, and Western regions of New York State. Additionally, Toni has served as Fundraising Coordinator for Maxims porch PETicure event, which has raised thousands of dollars for Verona Street Animal Society and has served as fundraising coordinator for St. Josephs School First Annual Gala.
Daria Reitknecht has lived with her husband in Penfield and has been an active participant in many community activities such as Penfield Strikers and the Penfield Schools. She current works in sales management and new business development for the Genesee Valley Penny Saver , a family owned business located in Avon since 1948.

Daria feels strongly that a key factor in business success is getting to know others and learning from other businesses. She believes the Penfield Business Chamber does just that and more. She looks forward to being an active board member chairing the Membership Committee.
Returning Board Members
Tom Dambra is a long-time resident of LeRoy and lives there with his wife Molly and their three teenage daughters. He received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and MBA from RIT. He has worked in the finance areas for Frontier Communications and Tompkins Financial Corporation. For the last 4 years he has proudly served as President and CEO of Family First Federal Credit Union . He is a Rochester Rotarian and has been on the board of the Penfield Business Chamber Board for two years.
Michael Quinn has been a resident of Penfield since 2006 and lives with his wife Melissa and their daughter Maura. He received his bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College and a post graduate certificate in Architectural Restoration. For the last 13 years he has worked as a commercial and residential licensed associate RE broker with Remax Plus . He has been a licensed home inspector for 30 years, a FEMA Contractor for five years, and has served on the board of the Penfield Symphony Orchestra for ten years. Mike has served on the Penfield Business Chamber Board as Co-President and Vice President.

The Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf is collecting these items for their holiday baskets: boxed stuffing, gravy (canned or jarred or packets), cranberry sauce, brownie mix, applesauce. Donations are needed by December 8th at the Food Shelf, 1618 Jackson Road.

Penfield Symphony Orchestra, December 16
The  Penfield Symphony Orchestra  will present “Holiday Gifts,” the second concert of its 64th season, sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank & Trust – Penfield Branch.  The concert will have a special local flavor, featuring Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 “Romantic,” and the well-known tenor soloist Harold McAulliffe singing the RPO Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik’s composition The Twelve Gifts of Christmas. Also on the program are classical masterpieces from Buxtehude and Vaughan Williams, a world-premiere holiday piece by local composer Matt Osika, as well as other seasonal pieces for Christmas and Hanukah. Fairport Savings Bank Welcomes James Bilotta
 
Jim Bilotta has joined Fairport Savings Bank as Assistant Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager. His responsibilities will include acquiring new business relationships and commercial lending opportunities throughout the bank’s markets. Jim has 20 years’ experience in the financial industry, most recently as Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager with Lyons National Bank.
 
“We’re pleased to have Jim join our commercial banking team. He has strong community ties and banking expertise that will be a great addition to the bank, as well as a valuable resource for our customers,” said Mike Giancursio, Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer.
