Pacific Institute-Led Project Earns California Green Building Award

We’re honored to share that a Pacific Institute-led project has been recognized at USGBC California as a recipient of the California Green Building Award in the Innovation Category!

This award celebrates visionary leaders who are transforming how California builds, lives, and protects its communities, and we’re proud to be among them. The project, "Advancing Water Efficiency in Affordable Housing," tackles an overlooked but pervasive issue – leaky toilets in multifamily housing. Since 2021, the Pacific Institute has built a coalition of partners to deploy an innovative toilet leak detection technology in 14 affordable multifamily properties in California and Arizona, saving an estimated 10 million gallons per year.

A Year-End Conversation with Jason Morrison

As 2025 draws to a close, we sat down with Jason Morrison, President of the Pacific Institute and Head of the CEO Water Mandate, to reflect on a year of progress, the impact that donors made possible, and the work that still lies ahead.

In this new blog, Jason shares what gives him hope, what challenges remain, and how each of us can help build a water-secure future.

Introducing Positive Water Impact (PWI)

Introducing Positive Water Impact (PWI), the next evolution of corporate water stewardship.

Formerly known as Net Positive Water Impact (NPWI), PWI reflects lessons learned from members and partners, shifting from a static goal to a dynamic framework that empowers companies to act meaningfully, scale impact, and foster innovation. The methodology remains rigorous but the mindset is more inclusive.

Water Resilience Coalition Launches Two New Basin Collaboratives in Spain & France

Earlier this month, the CEO Water Mandate’s Water Resilience Coalition, alongside Ecolab, hosted the launch of two new basin collaboratives: the Guadalquivir Basin Collaborative in Seville, Spain, and the Rhône-Mediterranean Basin Collaborative in Marseille, France.

These launch events brought together diverse stakeholders to begin building the partnerships needed to advance sustainable growth, long-term water security, and healthy ecosystems in each basin. The conversations highlighted the value of collaboration across sectors, thoughtful engagement with local partners, and the importance of aligning shared goals for basin resilience.

Water Conflict Chronology Update Draws Global Attention
