December Joy Edition: A Season of Rest, Joy & New Beginnings | | |
As we enter the final stretch of 2025, this month’s newsletter is a little different. December is a time when classrooms sparkle with excitement, students buzz with energy, and teachers quietly carry the weight of making the season magical. So instead of filling your inbox with strategies and resources, this issue is all about you — your joy, your peace, your well-deserved rest.
Think of this as your permission slip to slow down.
This month, we’re celebrating the beauty of taking time for yourself… the deep breaths between busy days… the moments of gratitude as we reflect on all that has unfolded this year… and the spark of hope that comes with preparing for a brand new one. A new year brings new possibilities, new adventures, new wonder — and you deserve to step into it feeling renewed.
Our goal for this issue is simple: to pour joy back into you. To give you a bright spot in your day. To remind you how deeply valued you are. And to help you walk into winter break not just surviving, but refreshed and excited for what’s to come.
You show up every day for your students. This month, we’re showing up for you.
Let’s create a December filled with light, gratitude, and rest — you’ve earned every bit of it. 💛
With appreciation,
Chelsea Davis
Director of Educator Engagement

Question: What’s the biggest stressor you’d love support with right now?
- Time management - 0%
- Student behaviors - 22%
- Workload/meetings - 22%
- Work-life balance - 56%
The teachers have spoken!
This month’s quick poll revealed that work–life balance is the biggest stressor teachers want support with right now. And it’s no surprise — balancing the weight of school responsibilities with personal time can feel overwhelming, especially this time of year. Finding that balance isn’t just helpful; it’s essential for your well-being, energy, and joy in and out of the classroom.
Chelsea's Classroom Chronicles: When I was in the classroom, the biggest thing that helped me find work–life balance was planning out my weeks with intention. I built in bulk planning days where I allowed myself to get things done at home, but I also created strict no-work days where I completely unplugged and gave myself space to decompress. And honestly, one of the most freeing lessons I learned was accepting that the school would survive even if I didn’t finish everything in one day.
This career asks so much of us — often more than anyone fully understands — but the key is to remember that you are human. You have to put yourself first sometimes, just as you do for your students, colleagues, and everything else in your life. Giving yourself that grace makes all the difference.
✨ Pro Tip: Your goal for winter break? Do not work. Give yourself full permission to step away from lesson plans, grading, and emails. Even just a few days of true unplugging — reading, resting, taking walks, or enjoying a cozy cup of your favorite drink — will recharge your mind, body, and spirit so you can return feeling refreshed and ready for the new year.

This Month’s Tip
Create a “digital sunset” each evening
Your well-being matters — and taking time to truly rest is just as important as the work you do every day in your classroom. One simple way to recharge is to create a “digital sunset” each evening: set a time to put away your phone, computer, and email.
Try a few ways to make it meaningful:
-
Read a book or magazine that brings you joy.
-
Take a warm bath or sip a cozy drink while listening to calming music.
-
Journal or reflect on the week, your wins, or what you’re grateful for.
Unplugging from screens helps your mind fully rest, reduces stress, and allows you to savor the calm and joy of winter break — so you can return to your classroom renewed and ready for a new year of possibilities.
| | Pro Tip: Schedule one “just for you” activity each day — no lesson plans, no emails, no to-do lists. Whether it’s a short walk, journaling, reading, or sipping your favorite drink in peace, even 20–30 minutes of intentional self-care can refresh your mind and spirit for the new year. | | Educator Discounts & Perks | |
