My Christmas Wish for You
wrapped_presents.jpg
As I look back on 2017, it warms my heart to think of all the wonderful friendships that were born and strengthen this year; of all the people we met who came to our Friend Raisers, to our gala, the 5K walk and to our first golf tournament with open hearts wanting to make a difference in the life of another human being. It is because of kind-hearted people like you, that we are able to give hope to those that have lost all hope. To be there for the expectant young mother who is hiding her pregnancy and is scared. Your support throughout the year enables us to offer guidance, resources and comfort to the young mother-to-be. Giving her options for both her and her unborn child. Letting her know she is not alone. To date, 269 babies have been given a chance at a future; 17 this year alone. To date, 269 families can enjoy and celebrate the joy of this very special season as a family. It does not matter how you celebrate the season - Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanza the feeling, meaning is the same. One of faith, love, togetherness and family.

My wish for you this holiday season is that you spend it surrounded by family and friends; and that 2018 bring you blessings, good health and prosperity.

From me to you and yours — Merry Christmas! Chag Urim Same’ach! Joyous Kwanza!

Introducing the Community Service App
The A Safe Haven for Newborns Community Service app makes it very easy for the student who is looking for a project to do to fulfill their community service obligation.

Students can select from five designated projects; all with the goal of creating awareness of the Safe Haven mission. They can create a video using their smart phone, develop a social media campaign, write an article to be published in the Safe Haven e-newsletter, create artwork for a poster or give a presentation to an organization or group in their community. Each project’s instructions are clearly outlined and how many credit hours will be awarded. Prior to initiating the project, the student will first need to register with Safe Haven and receive approval from the student’s community service authorized designee. Any student requiring community services hours is eligible to submit their request to Safe Haven via the app; and, after completion of the selected project a letter of completion along with a certificate of appreciation from Safe Haven will be issued.

The A Safe Haven for Newborns Community Service app is available on the App Store for iPhone users or on the Android App on Google Play.

For more information regarding the app and our life saving program, please visit us at A Safe Haven for Newborns .
Did You Know
The Florida Safe Haven Law allows parents to anonymously give their unharmed newborn, seven days or younger, to the staff at a 24/7 fire station, ambulance station or hospital without fear of being arrested. These safe haven places have signs identifying their facility as a Safe Haven for Newborns site. At these locations, the staff is prepared to accept the baby. No questions asked.

Nick's Corner

This past November I was invited to attend the ecumenical leadership event in Rome sponsored by The Spring Time of Faith Foundation (SOFF), a non-profit Christian organization. SOFF's mission is to promote unity among the world's Christian churches and work to unify and strengthen Christian beliefs. The highly diverse and select group is comprised of exceptional leaders from various parts of the world. From TV and radio personalities, best selling authors, actors, artists, CEOs of small and large companies, prominent Christian leaders (Catholic, Southern Baptist, Evangelical, Non-denominational, Orthodox) to scholars, musicians, pro-life and pro-family activist all coming together to share, learn and grow.

The Springtime of Faith Summit was truly an amazing experience. I felt God’s presence each day; in every session. I also felt my wife Gloria’s presence as we had a planned trip to Italy before her fatal car accident caused by a speeding driver.

The distinguished speakers showed us the depth of our Christian faith, how all Christians of different faiths can learn from each other, how holy men of God, such as Billy Graham worked together with other Christian leaders around the world and as a Christian we should be positive, all inclusive, think of others first-not just ourselves and to “think outside of the box”.

I left the Summit knowing that we were all doing God’s work; but there was so much more to do.

Until next month, sending you my best wishes, Nick

A Few Words From Those Helped by Safe Haven
Safe Haven Helped Me
Even Though I Was in Another State
I ignored my pregnancy for over 6 months, no pre-natal care, hiding my pregnancy, but I knew I needed to get help and I began searching online. I googled and quickly came across A Safe Haven for Newborns. Even though it was not in my state I decided to contact them and I am so glad I did. I had many questions. The first thing they stressed was having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. So, they connected me to a social worker at a hospital in my city. I did not have transportation so they arranged and paid for my transportation throughout the remaining months of my pregnancy. My baby was born healthy. I decided A Safe Haven was my best option. The people at Safe Haven are very special. I have another child and thru Amazon, they sent me clothes and other necessities for my 4 year old daughter. - S.
Safe Haven Was There For Me & My Family
I am so glad there is a Safe Haven in Florida. I am a single mother of 5 kids, the youngest, one month old. I was experiencing many difficulties with great emotional distress and was without hope until I called them on a Saturday morning. They did not judge me and got me help in the community right away. They even followed up after to make sure. Safe Haven for newborns was a blessing to me and my kids.-GP
