Building a stronger future together

A task force of CPPA and pork industry leaders came together in 2024 to develop a strategy plan to guide our work through 2027. The group used a survey, interviews and a facilitated design process to identify four priorities, as well as supporting actions, to help CPPA accomplish its goals for the organization and the industry.

We also solidified our organization’s mission: “Working together to secure a strong California pork industry by passionately protecting and promoting our product and our people.”

The opportunity to connect with other producers and engage the next generation in the future of the industry are driving factors for Jared Lamle’s involvement in CPPA.

Lamle is an Indiana native who moved to California in 2018 and is herdsman at Sierra Nevada Farms in Visalia. He joined the CPPA board in 2022.

Strong attendance at 2024 CPPA Annual Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended the CPPA annual meeting on Nov. 15 at the National Junior Swine Association Western Regional in Paso Robles. With more than 100 RSVPs, we were pleased with the interest you all showed in getting together to discuss our organization and industry. For those who weren’t there, progress toward strategy plan priorities was shared as well as an update on the search for the next CPPA executive director – those interviews will be scheduled for December.

Guest speakers at the meeting included a representative from the California Department of Food and Agriculture; Dr Brett Kaysen, senior vice president of producer and state engagement for National Pork Board; and Stephanie Carlson, assistant vice president of state and national relations at the National Pork Producers Council.

National Pork News:

On-farm biosecurity remains a priority

With the recent detection of H5N1 in U.S. swine, now is a crucial time to double down on biosecurity measures. While this isolated case poses no risk to pork safety, taking proactive steps to secure your farm can prevent disease from spreading.
