December 2016

The holidays are busy enough without having to take a trip to the Emergency room, so we've put together a checklist of the top 10 basic precautions you can take to be on the "nice" list when it comes to ensuring your whole family remains safe and injury-free throughout the season. You can download and print to share with your team or hang the list next to your stockings. HappyHolidays from all of us at Evolved Safety!

If you recall back in mid November, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a final rule to update its 44-year old general industry Walking-Working Surfaces standard that protects workers from slip, trip, and fall hazards.
Going into effect on January 17, 2017, the new final rule updates walking-working surfaces standards and establishes personal fall protection requirements to increase consistency in safety and health standards for people working in both general and construction industries. The rule's most significant update is allowing employers to select the fall protection system that works best for them, choosing from a range of accepted options. OSHA Assistant Secretary Dr. David Michaels says, "The final rule will increase workplace protection from those hazards, especially fall hazards, which are a leading cause of worker deaths and injuries". OSHA estimates the final rule will prevent more than 5,800 injuries a year.

SafetySkills just keeps rolling out new titles this year, and the holiday season is no exception. We love new and updated materials, because that gives you more opportunity and more options to stay in compliance with EH&S training needs. What we like about SafetySkills is that they work hard to develop high-end, competency-based, custom-built e-learning courses to help industries around the globe stay up-to-date and in compliance with environmental and occupational needs.
So without further ado, check out these two new titles:
- Combustible Dust
- Heat Stress - Available in Spanish and French Canadian
Stay tuned for updated DOT courses coming soon in 2017!
