Meeting    President's Note   Save The Date

As the year comes to a close, we ask you to remember the valuable education MASWA has provided over the last 12 months, and in reality the education MASWA provides is really only a small part of what we hope you will take away.  MASWA also provides the opportunity for you to nurture relationships with other providers and a place for you to share information about your services. However, most importantly, you all provide invaluable services to our elderly population, and we hope our education, relationship building opportunities, and information about all of the services in your area can help you do that.  Take a moment to appreciate what you do every day to bring the best possible quality of life to those you serve.  It does not go unnoticed.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

I cannot believe another year is coming to an end.  It seems like yesterday it was New Year's Eve and we began 2017.  We have had a very successful year at MASWA and hope all of you took part in all of our successes, because this is your organization!

Our monthly meetings always have great speakers with valuable information and, of course, refreshments at 3:00 in the afternoon give us the boost we need to make it to the end of the day!

Our Spring Luncheon and Annual Meeting brought us all together to hear Dr. Joel Carter speak about "What is our Purpose?", to say thank you to departing board members and welcoming in the new board, and sharing a meal with our colleagues and friends.  It was held at the Plymouth Creekside Community Center, which provides a very uplifting venue for the luncheon. It was a great success!

We had two very informational Public Policy meetings this past year.  MASWA hosted the first and the guest speaker was Toby Pearson, VP of Advocacy, Care Providers of Minnesota.  Toby gave an overview of activities at the Capitol during the 2016 legislative session.

The second Public Policy meeting was hosted by SPSWA and the guest speaker was Patty Cullen, President of Care Providers of Minnesota.

More recently, our very fun and successful Fall Aging Conference was in October.  It was the largest conference we have ever hosted.  There were 441 attendees and 140 vendor attendees.  MASWA thanks all of you who participated in this great fall gathering!

We capped off the year with our annual Holiday Party at Schuller's Tavern in Golden Valley.  There were great door prizes, fabulous pizza and chicken wings, drinks, and most importantly, laughter and good conversation!

Thanks to all of you who make MASWA a success!  We all wish you a very Happy Holiday Season!
