Time For The Polar Express and Fireworks Express Steam Train!

Nevada Northern Railway's award-winning Polar Express begins November 22 and runs on select dates and times through December 27. This magical train ride, licensed by Warner Bros., is pulled by a vintage diesel locomotive and follows the beloved story by Chris Van Allsburg, which is read aloud. The movie soundtrack is played overhead while servers bedecked in white chef jackets with poufy white hats serve hot chocolate and cookies to all passengers. Santa Claus boards the train at the North Pole and greets all passengers. Bring your cameras! His trusty helper gives each one a silver bell as a souvenir of the journey. Christmas carols are sung on the way back.

Nevada Northern Railway's Polar Express has been voted "Best Special Event in Rural Nevada" for two years, by the readers of Nevada Magazine.

For more information, call 866-40-STEAM, 775-289-2085 or go online at www.nnry.com. Pajamas are encouraged for all! (The trains run rain, shine, sleet or snow - dress warm!)

Austin Hosts Their 2oth Live Nativity and Christmas Celebration

On December 16th at 6:00 pm, the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the citizens of Austin are once again hosting their annual Christmas celebration. This is always a festive evening and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Following the Live Nativity, hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Austin Fire House to warm everyone up and get in the mood for the Turkey raffle. Tickets for the raffle are available at local businesses in Austin, and are free for every $5.00 of merchandise bought (you MUST BE present to win.) We're also sponsoring a canned food drive for those who need extra help during the Holidays, so please bring your canned goods or non-perishable items to the Fire House before the Nativity. For more information, please call 775-964-2200 or visit austinnevada.com.
