TEAM Water Activity
Dragon boat
Though not a TEAM Punta Gorda event, TEAM participated in this charity event.  Despite the strong winds,TEAM Punta Gorda's "Dream TEAM" dragon boat paddlers braved the rough waters of the Peace River to participate in a community event to benefit the Charlotte Local Education Foundation - Take Stock in Children.  Due to poor weather conditions it was necessary to reduce the number of paddlers, including the drummer, but that didn't diminish the enthusiasm.  Dream TEAM placed 14 out of 18 community teams. Of the 18 paddlers on board, only two had previous experience. BRAVO "Dream Team"! Hope to see you again next year.

Paddle Punta Gorda a Success!

This first-time TEAM Punta Gorda event proved to be so successful, the chairpersons were asked to bring it back next year.  Naturalists guided 90 kayakers through five tours on the Peace River, Shell Creek, Alligator Creek, Lettuce Lake and Ponce Deleon Park early morning on November 12th. Lunch and entertainment followed the tours. Get your 'yaks ready for next year's launch and explore a different area.

Founder's Day BBQ and Historical Poker Run - December 7
It's not too late......reserve your place today.

TEAM Punta Gorda is closing the week of activities for the Founders Day Celebration this year with something special. Our Historic Poker Run finale is scheduled for December 7, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Community Foundation building, 227 Sullivan St.  You'll  walk, run or ride to five historic places at your own pace collecting a poker hand.  At each location, you'll answer a historical question relative to the site before receiving your card in a sealed envelope.  Bring your five unopened envelopes back to the Community Foundation to reveal your hand and enjoy an old time barbecue.  Prizes will be given while you enjoy an evening of camaraderie with good food, good ol' people, and old fashioned lemonade.

Just fill out the registration below and submit to TEAM Punta Gorda along with your $25 contribution.

Paint Your Heart Out - Seeking Sponsors

Make it a priority to be part of next year's effort!  Sponsors are still needed.  Save the date of February 18, 2017 and be part of it by contacting Peter Krumsiek or Sue Carman at [email protected]

Paint Your Heart Out (PYHO) is an annual service project done in collaboration with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity and heavily supported by local contractors, tradesmen, businesses and service clubs.  Each year houses are painted by volunteers for homeowners who need a helping hand.  It was initiated in the spring of 2014, designed to help elderly, disabled, and needy residents while beautifying Punta Gorda.  PYHO does more than paint homes.  It sends a message of pride and builds a sense of community spirit and unity that lasts long after this day of service is over.
