AHEDC and MGCC Workforce Development Host Contractor Lunch and Discussion

AHEDC joined forces with Mountain Gate Community College (MGCC) Workforce Development to host this event for local contractors, in order to help grow our understanding of current workforce needs and how to drive economic development in the Alleghany Highlands.

On Dec 13th, over 25 contractors from a variety of trades gathered together for a great, informal discussion to connect and focus on important topics such as training — including Mountain Gateway Community College's CDL Training Program — funding, housing, tailoring apprenticeship programs for different industries and exciting opportunities here in the Alleghany Highlands.

Thank you to everyone that attended!

We're excited to feature a new Alleghany Highlands business, The Old Parsonage House!

We recently spoke with owner, Kimberly Fink, and asked her a few questions about this beautiful bed and breakfast.

When asked what inspired her to open The Old Parsonage House, Kimberly responded, "We fell in love the moment we stepped in the front door. The beautiful woodwork, historic fireplaces, and ornate details throughout the house left an impression that helped us look past the work that lied ahead. We weren’t the first to see the vision, we purchased the home from a group of investors who also planned to turn the space into a bed and breakfast. After researching the history of the house, we had a name selected and a clear vision of what we wanted to do with the space."

What a beautiful story! We can't wait to see what amazing things you accomplish in this space.
