Greetings!
Thank you to all who made our retirement celebration for library cataloging assistant Deb Kohlhase special. On her last day, staff, trustees and friends surprised her with a cake, a gift card to the Library Restaurant and a “Forever Library Card.” Deb’s replacement is a familiar face: Newington resident Debbie Obertanec! You may have met her in the library in her former substitute position, or from her artwork and photography. She displayed at the library in 2016 and will show here again soon.
December's art display is a selection of vivid and acrylic paintings by Sharon Lester from Farmington, NH. They've been up for just two days and are already a hit. Sharon says:
In late 2018, at the age of 75, I took off my jewelry designing hat to become a painter. Whether with beads, yarn, or fabric, my work has always been an excuse to play with color. Now, with the abstract fluid pours, the paint is as active in the play as I am. I enjoy the freedom and surprises of the fluid pours (not the mess so much!) and the focused concentration and precision required for the dot mandalas provides me with a good meditative balance.
Come see Sharon's vivid, stunning pieces at the library in December!
Our annual Winter Warm-Up is back, with a special twist this year. On Thursday, December 29 we wil host a two part event, showing a Pontine Theatre production of NH Poet Donald Hall’s “Christmas Snow” at 5:30 PM followed by food, drink and community fun at 6:30 PM for all ages, including a Library Scavenger Hunt for kids organized by our Teen Advisory Group. You may come to one or both events. Registration for “Christmas Snow” is required, as space is limited. Call 603 436 5154 or email info@langdonlibrary.org
