Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada raises funds to provide vital services and programs for the brain tumour community. We also lead research into the cause of and cure for this devastating disease through a variety of funding opportunities including the Brain Tumour Research Studentships. These awards provide students opportunities to gain experience in brain tumour research and its research methods.

Our Brain Tumour Research Fellowship encourages and enables young clinicians and scientists to enter the field of brain tumour research and accelerate studies leading to a cure for brain tumours.

We are seeking outstanding young brain tumour researchers to continue the Research Fellowship, with studies conducted in Canada. Applications will be considered for adult and pediatric Basic, Clinical or Translational Research.

Kindred Foundation Collaboration

We are happy to announce that we have partnered with six organizations to support the Defeating Embryonal Cancer in Young People Together (DECRYPT) Research Grant.


This grant will provide $600,000 to one Canadian research project focused on childhood embryonal brain tumours.

Brain Canada announces the launch of the Brain Changes Initiative Award for Traumatic Brain Injury.


With an overall envelope of $50,000 CAD to support one grant over one year, the purpose of this funding opportunity is to improve our understanding of the potential for nonpharmacological interventions to improve brain recovery after injury.

New Article on Radiation Nanomedicine

A radiation nanomedicine treatment for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has just been published in Molecular Pharmaceutics.


The results of the study conducted in mice with human GBM tumours in the brain are very promising for treatment of GBM in patients in the future.
