Community Wreath Display
Our campus will be festive the weekend of December 6th through 8th! From 4pm to 8pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night we will illuminate doorways throughout our campus to showcase wreaths created by local individuals, organizations, and businesses.

Participants so far include: Penobscot Expedition Chapter - National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, The Garrold Family, First Congregational Church, Maine Ocean School, Searsport Historical Society, Friends of Sears Island, Bangor Savings Bank, and Pat Brennan.

We have many doorways, so if you'd like to participate with a wreath that represents you or your organization, please contact Jeana at  jganskop@pmm-maine.org or 207-548-2529 x213.
Farewell to a Dedicated Volunteer
We lost one of our longest serving volunteers in November. Linda Long began volunteering for the photo archives in 2008. She commuted every Tuesday to PMM from Sedgwick. When she was in the volunteer spotlight a couple of years back I wrote that " Like the postman, she comes in rain, snow, wind and hail each week and scans for 4 hours. Other than a couple of stints on the injured reserve when she broke her hips (not at the same time) and a yearly meeting with the 'blueberry boys' she has been as dependable as the sun rising each morning." We were one of several non-profit institutions and causes that she donated her time and efforts to in her retirement. Tuesdays won't be the same without her. Enjoy this  news clip  that features her from a couple of years ago. You can read her obituary  here . We will miss you Linda!
Time Travelers Children's Camps - Summer 2020 Make Great Gifts!
This Christmas, give the gift of a truly unique experience at the Penobscot Marine Museum. That special child in your life will love our summer time travelers camps in July 2020. Celebrating Maine's Bicentennial, our campers will step back into the past visiting four different decades. Each day will be full of exciting hands-on activities, from creating their own paper ships, to trying out 19th century games, to furling the sails on our Yard in the Yard, and practicing lobstering in our exhibit interactive, plus games, sea chanteys, and more. Choose one, two, or three camps based on your child's interests and availability, or let them experience all four camps! You can even gift them a camp and decide on the details later.

Boothbay Fishing Photo Project Takes Off

Kevin Johnson, Matt Wheeler, Barbara Rumsey, Deanne Tibbits

On November 16 we began our collaborative digitization project of Boothbay related fishing photos. Working with the Boothbay Maritime Heritage Foundation and the Boothbay Regional Historical Society, we invited people to share their fishing photos, which we digitized and will be adding to our online database. This first session proved fruitful. Enjoy these gems! Stay tuned for more to come.
