Solar Credit Donations
Did you know you can donate your excess solar net metering electric credits to Habitat Cape Cod? Well you can!

We have recently received several donations of credits which are helping to offset our office and ReStore electric expenses.  We are very grateful for these donations!

Twice a year, Eversource allows homeowners to update their Schedule Z form by which you may allocate credits to any public, private or nonprofit entity. The credits may be apportioned at 100% or less. As these credits never expire and roll over month to month, some individuals, particularly “snow birds” who leave the Cape in winter, are finding they are accumulating credits they never use. Such credits can be put to good use here at Habitat!

If you are interested in donating your net metering credits, call Beth Wade, our Director of Land Acquisition & Project Development at 508-362-3559 x 24 or email her at land@h abitatcapec od.org .

Thank you for considering this donation to Habitat!
Our Most Precious Resource
Human beings are our most precious resource at Habitat. And we want to keep you all safe when on a construction site.

Construction volunteers, please refresh your safety basics by going to the following link, https://hfhaffiliateinsurance.com/safety-managers/  entering the access code W8NAEBTG and clicking on Volunteering On A Habitat for Humanity Job Site .

After you watch the 20 minute video, you’ll be directed to take a short online quiz, and we will receive a copy of your certificate!

Bob Ryley, our Director of Construction has watched the video and notes that most sections are relevant to our local building process and a few are not applicable.

Feel free to watch other videos in addition to the one we recommend and let us know which ones were helpful to you. Thank you.

Town News
BREWSTER and SANDWICH: We anticipate appearing before the Brewster Select Board in January or February to gain their general approval of our Local Initiative Program application for a newly proposed 2-home project on Red Top Road. In February, we will appear before the Sandwich Board of Selectmen to present “scattered site” proposal for 3 homes there.  Initiatives in both of these towns are the result of private land donations!!!

Update George Ryder Rd. South, Chatham:  We appeared before the Board of Selectmen on Monday, November 18th where the Board unanimously supported our Local Initiative Project application, which is the first step in the 40B Comprehensive Permitting process.  We are now waiting for our Project Eligibility Letter from Department of Housing and Community Development   and will take the project to Zoning Board of Appeals sometime this winter. Stay tuned.
